The lack of defensive line pressure will be this team's Achilles heel again.

I have said it over and over since we drafted him...despite being a first round pick, Taco is a bit of a project. His size and length demands he play LE, in my opinion, (which is where the Cowboys featured him last night), however, to play LE and be effective he will need a year in a strength and conditioning program before he can use his length to his advantage. His length needs to be supplemented by strength...and until he does that, he will be hard pressed to keep NFL-caliber OT's off his body.

I know it sucks that our first round pick may not make much of an impact this year, but if he has the right attitude, the right commitment, and the requisite heart, he'll be just fine. Of course, that is a BIG "if," but that's the gamble you take in every draft with every player. If they don't have the aforementioned intangibles, there talent and physical prowess means absolutely nothing on a professional level.

Thoughts?

Yes, and the weight room!

I live up in the Franklin Mountains (4400 ft above sea level where I am personally) ((I had to know that for my telescope... I like to watch the sky)). Tons of trees up here. I had a friend from Austin come visit me and he said my area was the Westlake side of town.
Not sure what that really meant...
We have a Westlake over here, but not at that elevation.

Ever see a UFO with that telescope? That area is supposedly a hotspot for unexplained activities in the sky.

Neither. I'm preaching patience, but also acknowledging he may never amount to anything dependent on his commitment, attitude, and heart.
For someone drafted that early,he should been more polished.

No doubt. I was puzzled when they said he was a RE then. That may have been Jerry guessing wrong.

Based on his measurables and the log jam at RE with guys possessing more suitable measurables, Taco struck me as a better fit for the Cowboys at LE. But I am by no means an expert. I do think I have a pretty firm grasp, though, on what they are looking for...and Taco clearly wasn't their first choice.

i am not sure, but i recall it was more than just jerry
question is if he is a LE, what are we doing drafting one with a 1st rounder?
if he does not pan out, they are going to be ripped apart publicly and deserve it.

That rule is not logical. It implies that if you are drafted at any place in the first round you must be starter ready or you are a busy. If a guy is LE-NFL-ready, in most draft, he is going top 15. This draft was interesting as it boasted several good DE's. But the majority of those flew off the board before the Cowboys had a chance. They had a need and they saw a kid that may be more about the long time value versus the immediate impact value.

For a little more context:

Yeah and I seem to remember idiots saying we shouldn't have taken Zeke based on how he looked too.....I don't pay these fans any mind anymore lol.
Haha you're right about that. Sometimes I think they aren't even Dallas fans. Seem more like under cover eagle fans or something

we already have how many LDE/3-tech?
dlaw, irving, collins, paea

one can argue TFred was a huh pick, but we needed a center.
we drafted taco to apply pressure.
if he does not apply pressure for 2 years, that is not a 1st round pick.
not with watts after, takk only 1 slot before and another rde at 22nd.
he better apply pressure or this is a massive bust.

we needed pressure and the lowest risk way to get it was watts and trading up.
many here are giving the FO the benefit of doubt because of 2016 and we are not going to freak out after preseason game #1.
if taco is a crushed taco this season, that would be a massive fail after 13-3 and other players were there for the taking. if he does not progress next camp, it would get very ugly.
looks like he needs some pass rush moves and lets hope the games slows down for him.

So theses other players are already successes?
