Its time to move Tyler inside

If 40 year old Peters could get the job done he'd have been doing it already.

Smith has been solid but had a rough game today. He'll bounce back, and handle it until Tyron returns.

More like a stubborn Philbin brain fart than Peters not being able to play LT.

Yes, let's ignore Tyler Smith's performance for 10 games and bench him after one bad game for a 40 year old guy who hasn't been able to take his job.

There's no bias like recency bias, other than looking for warm bodies in graveyards.

No one is advocating benching Tyler.

Why do you have to lie to push your emphasis?

He is an idiot, i agree. But hes right on this one.

even duke manyweather agrees

Yes he may be right on this one. But he overexaggerates. Just because Smith had one bad game you dont ask for a change at LT.
And he overexaggerates only to create clicks. Not because it is a valueable information he wants to share.

Wink Martindale is known for his exotic blitzes. He uses them all the time, which is why they lead the NFL in blitzing.

Smith just got fooled a few times and confused about who to take. It isn’t really surprising that he had a little bit of a tough game. It was his first time against a defense like that.

Few defenses are like that… It was a learning experience for him.

I don't disagree.

But Tyler has played the Giants twice now.

And both Bucs and Bears blitzed Cowboys heavily as well.

Yeah, but Martindale didn’t really bring the kitchen sink in that first game like he did in the second game. I guess he’s just had time to install more by this point.

Anyway, there is no doubt that Smith is still learning. Having said that, I’d be fine with him inside a guard as long as the LT is playing well. I think either way will be fine.

does Peters have the foot speed to play LT at 40 consistently?
He graded out ok for Chicago last year but that’s a valid question
Not sure Tyron does any longer either but he’s better than Peters and probably Tyler

Smith hasn’t just had 1 bad game. He’s top 10 in football in penalties, sacks allowed and Id guess pressures allowed. He got worked against the Lions too.

He’s a promising young player, but if there’s an internal option to upgrade you do it.

Tyler gave up 7 pressures yesterday…Tyron gave up 11 all of last year.

If Tyron comes back healthy this isn’t even a debate.
There were at least 3 plays where he tried to block 2 pass rushers. He was going to give up a pressure even if he blocked one of them perfectly.

They were on plays where the RB ran a pass route and there was nobody to block the extra pass rusher.

It was obviously part of the Giants defensive game plan to overload the left side of the OL with 2 young starters on that side.

Tyler tackling to free rusher was a "good" penalty because it prevented a hard hit on Dak.

Without adjustments in the blocking scheme, any LT would have struggled.

He had a false start which is his fault, but many of the pressures were unavoidable by Tyler when there is a pass rusher inside and outside with him as the only blocker..

So? This goes into pressures allowed for every OL player in the NFL.

Most OL don't face 2 pass rushers on multiple snaps in the same game.

On some snaps both players were DLinemen which is odd. Usually the extra rusher is a LB or DB.

They were over-focused on doubling the big interior DLinemen and the Giants schemed to take advantage of that issue.

So Tyler is the only OT in football that has to deal with those kind of blitzes?

Not buying it.

SMH......

Folks here flat tripping because Kayvon Thibodeaux gave Tyler Smith fits .. rookie vs rookie.

And Kayvon Thibodeaux who was the No 3 overall pick is just a flat helluva player - he's already one of the better pass rushers in NFL.
I was stunned they did not flex Thibodeaux vs Terrence Steele instead.

And i saw a couple of mix up to where McGovern was not blocking who he was supposed to be blocking - one which caused Tyler to have to hold.

Tyler more than held his own last week vs pro bowler Za' Darius Smith ... but do you have folks griping and pancking then like they are
doing now ? They demand Tyler be All Pro rookie year - year one. Geeeeez

100% agree. It's not only today's poor performance against the Giants. Tyler Smith has been getting beat by the best edge rushers since Week 1. Remember, it was he who initially got beat and caused Dak to get hit and break his throwing right hand during Week 1. He needs to move inside to Guard. Problem is Connor McGovern is actually playing very good at Left Guard. Is it a smart idea to bench McGovern's good play in favor for the rookie who is making too many mistakes and getting beat too often?

OMG... Tyler only just forced to move to LT in week 1

- No training camp or preseason time at LT at all

-Problem is folks like you demand that he be All pro week one. The hell with development and adjustment, eh?

In those 2 games he faced the 2nd and 5th overall picks in this year's draft
