I don't judge who is a better fan or a worse fan.... Wish I could say the same for others.

And comments on a message board -- whether positive or negative -- don't help the team become better. I just don't see the fascination in lying to myself about the prospects of the team. It just conjures up ideas of entitlement to me. Like we're the Cowboys, so we should just be good damnit. Not every team thinks they're contenders every year... why should its fans?

Some folks in here think we're going to the playoffs every stinking year before the season starts, and we've been there 4 times since 2000. It's past time to shed the entitlement mentality.

Maybe it's time you shed your so called fandom of the Cowboys?

That's true. He was bad last year. But they had other issues than just QB. Granted, a lot of those issues were injuries.

Bad doesn't even cover it Schaub was horrendous. He set an NFL record with a pick-six in 4 straight games. Sure the Texans had some other issues but Schaub's poor play created a number of issues that put Houston in a huge hole. When your QB is handing over points in 4 straight games that puts a lot of pressure on your offense and defense. There's a reason why the Texans dumped him.

Green would have been better than you want to give him credit for (and I'm not just saying that because he went to Indiana). He wasn't HOF caliber QB but surrounded by those offensive weapons (Faulk, Holt, Bruce, Proehl, Hakim) they would have been contenders with Green. Heck, look what he did the next year in the 8 games he played in (started 5). 145/240, 60.4 pct, 2063 yards, 8.6 ave, 16 tds, 5 ints. More than respectable if you ask me. He went on to have several good seasons in KC.

The point I'm making is Green would have never led the Rams to the heights Warner did. Prior to coming to St Louis Green was average. He put up some very good numbers in KC for 3 seasons after he left the Rams but never led them to a playoff win. Kurt Warner will be in the HOF…nuff said!

Do you honestly think the 2011 Cowboys were close to the same overall talent level as the 2009 Cowboys?

The talent level was definitely close because several of the same key players that led the 09 team were leading the 2011 team. Both the 09 and 2011 teams were led by Romo, Witten, Austin and Demarcus Ware on defense. The 2011 team had a more talented WR (Dez] than any of the Cowboys WR's in 2009. Part of that season was played with Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton as the starting WR's. The group we have NOW is more talented than those two. The 09 season got off to a rocky start until Austin's breakout game vs KC.

That sparked the team as did Spencer's play on defense the final month. The same players that were part of the 11-5 09 season that beat Philly in the playoffs were part of the 6-10 2010 team that sat home for the playoffs. A lot of the issues with the Cowboys hasn't been the talent it's been the lack of solid coaching and getting players to step up and play to the best of their ability. The contrast between the 09 season and the 2010 season is proof positive of that.

Maybe. Maybe not. Still, what's the point? Why just take shots at Hos when you could contribute something more interesting?
Maybe, maybe not, what?

Let me see if I can get this straight... OP comes in with an air of superiority, proclaiming anyone who thinks this team is going 8-8 is full of crap, but there's no point in bringing up that OP's predictions are rarely based in reality and rarely correct? If I think the team is 8-8, he thinks I'm full of crap. But if I think he's full of crap, I gotta keep my mouth shut?

I happen to think what I posted is pertinent... and interesting. I guess if you don't think so, you're free to disagree or ignore me.

I understand what you're saying but you have to respect the courage to come into a Cowboys forum and predict good things for the Cowboys.

I think, if healthy, the team wins at least one playoff game this year....not backing down from that...

Maybe it's time you stop concerning yourself with who I cheer for.

Why? You going to sue me?

Relax dog...just poking your ribs. And if you call "cheering" for a team with your remarks about your "team"...? It's no wonder you passed the Bar. lol

Ok. Maybe not you, but many from the less optimistic viewpoint seem to think they have great knowledge that all the more positive fans don't because we are somehow blinded by our fandom. They consistently say the Cowboys have little to no chance. Others, choose to be more positive and dare I say enjoy the upcoming season or game more.
I do think many of the realists do think they are smarter fans. I believe they are mostly pessimists in many areas who like it both ways. If we win or are good then that's great. If we lose then they knew it all along and only a delusional fan would have thought that we would be good or win.
Others want us to lose with some fantasy that it will make us better in the long run.

Really? Courage....really? lmao

Actually it takes a good FAN to hope for good things about the Cowboys. Or, you can be the opposite of "courage" and be a "coward" to come to a Cowboy Fan page and berate everything they are trying to do.

Take your pick.

Our defense will be better this year than it was last year (there are only 32 teams btw)

AND

our defense will be better than "some" fans think

I don't know about you but I know I am waiting for his next earth shattering revelation

You.......all you have are facts

Green couldn't have? I think he could have just by the talent around him. That team was loaded offensively. Now would he have is another story. May be something said for the team rallying around the BU QB, etc.

The OL in 2009 was much better as a whole than what the Cowboys trotted out on the field in 2011. Sensy and Hamlin may have been our last decent safety combo. Was there still talented players in 2011? Of course. I would never say there wasn't. But top to bottom, I'd take 2009 roster over 2011 every day of the week and twice on Sunday if I was looking to win right now. 2009 team, though aging in several areas of concern, was IMO just a better team overall.

I generally don't count 2010 as a Garrett year. Though if you are going to you have to give the guy credit for turning the team around that season.

Air of superiority? Where do you get that?

He's just an optimistic fan looking at the potential of his team and calling it like he sees it if we have a decent year health wise.

Has the attitude of the chicken little fans and Realists that contaminate this board really created such a negative air that anyone who is optimistic can be looked at as having an air of superiority?
