Sometimes the wife wears me out with the Lifetime channel.

I ask her...why do you watch these movies? There is always something bad happening. I ask her how many movies can you watch where a man is beating up on a woman, a man is cheating on a woman, a woman is on drugs or some other terrible thing.

I call it the man hater channel and that gets her fired up. :laugh2:

:laugh1:

Is it just me or does the younger guy ( the one who is going to be running against longmire for sheriff) look like the guy from starship troopers? I know it is not the Van Diem (sp?) guy but it really looks like him.

Maybe a little. It will be interesting when he finds out that guy is sleeping with his daughter :laugh1:

Starbuck and the guy's daughter are hot...Plus there is nothing girly about the last episode where the Mennonite Stripper gets killed. :laugh2:

It was funny because the girl is dead and they want you to feel bad but I cracked up over the Mennonite stripper story line. Yes I bad.

got to admit the idea of a mennonite stripper is kind of different.
Now they need to get an Amish one or better yet a strict fundamentalist Muslim stripper. Though how you can be sexy at all in a burka...

Where did I say I never watched it? I said I did not care for it, that is not the same as saying I never watched it.

I would imagine we were about the same age when it was on and I am also sure you remember that there were only a few channels at that time so if the parents liked a show you had to watch it, unless you found something else to do at night.

I just remember they went through all of that hoopla about who shot JR...and it was HUGE at that time. Only for it later to pan out as a dream. I think that irked a good number of people.

But as a kid I remember Dallas, Knots Landing and few other shows I did not care but was the ones that the parents watched. Also had the displeasure of sitting through Hee Haw and the porter wagnoner (sp?) show...although a young Dolly Parton made the Porter show a little more bearable. :laugh2:

Heck I remember one place we lived...it was pretty backwoods area. We got one channel at a time. The antenna was up on the hill so it took a great deal of time to move it around and yell if you wanted to change to a different station and get it to come in clear.

But at least in that spot there was a great deal of outdoor stuff to do...had a decent sized pond in the back yard close enough you could throw a rock under hand from the back door and hit it in the pond. Had a nice creeks in the area and plenty of woods to walk around in. Actually missed that place as it was a great place for a young boy to go out and play.

This thread got me thinking (take cover it can be dangerous).

We have so many talent shows now...America's got talent, American Idol, So you think you can dance and much more. It seems like we have too many.

But the HeeHaw show I talked about made me think back and I don't know if people remember the number of variety shows we had back in the day...seemed like there were so many.

Sonny and Cher
Mac Davis
Porter Wagoner (sp?)
Don Ho
The Smothers Brothers
Donny and Marie
Carol Burnett (this was easily one of my faves of the genre)
Muppet Show
Laugh in

There were so many....does anyone remember some of the others?
