BrAinPaiNt;4592843 said:There were only three...well 3 good things about the show(s) last night.
1. JR...even as old an in as bad of shape as he is in...Larry Hagman still has the look and ability to become someone you love to hate.
2. Showing the Cowboys stadium. Not the scene at the stadium but just showing the stadium.
3. The ladies looked nice. Even the older ladies looked good for their age except for charlene tilton...which is kind of funny because during the original she was the hottest.
Other than those three areas it was just horrid.
The guy playing JR's son just does not have 1/100th of what Hagman had/has. All the young guy has is a face you would like to punch but other than that his acting was sad, his character is sad and frankly comical in how bad he was.
Same goes for Bobbie's son. Less punchable face but still sad. You want to try and make the "good" guy an environmental guy on a show based in Dallas and around oil? Seriously? They should have made JR's son the environmental guy and also the bad guy...then more people who are fans of the show would really hate him.
There were enough lame double crosses and double crosses on top of the original double crosses in two episodes that it made day time soaps look more believable.
I honestly think if someone was not a cowboys fan, was not a Texan, or did not have ties to the original show...there would be no way they could watch this and actually think it was good. Now there is time and room for improvement but even though I was not a big fan of the original by any stretch...the original looked like award winning master piece theater compared to what was shown in two hours last night.
Just an opinion...if you like it you like it and that is ok...I just don't see how someone could watch that and think it was good.

BrAinPaiNt;4592863 said::laugh1: No...she saw I turned it on and asked me why the hades I was watching Dallas? So no...it was not her idea.
I figured I would give it a shot.
Sometimes when we are younger we may like a show or not like a show but when we get older we change our minds on something.
As I kid I loved the Dukes of Hazard. I watched an episode of it a year or two ago and could not believe how incredibly stupid and lame it was. I even had to laugh about it with my Dad as I told him...Sorry I wanted to watch that show every week as I youth...I now realize why you did not like it.:laugh1:
So I watched it last night hoping maybe I might like it now (well that and I wanted to see the stadium and maybe a Jerry Cameo).
I can not believe how bad it was and am frankly shocked at how many people in here said they thought it was good.

Anyway, like I said before I really liked the show. I think the reason there was so much stuff going on was they wanted to try to establish the characters really quickly. I will say this, there was a stark difference in this show and the Hatfields and McCoys in the way they were presented although one was meant to be an ongoing series and the other to be a feature length movie.
Backing up a couple years from that Ed Sullivan and Dean Martin had shows.BrAinPaiNt;4590776 said:This thread got me thinking (take cover it can be dangerous).
We have so many talent shows now...America's got talent, American Idol, So you think you can dance and much more. It seems like we have too many.
But the HeeHaw show I talked about made me think back and I don't know if people remember the number of variety shows we had back in the day...seemed like there were so many.
Sonny and Cher
Mac Davis
Porter Wagoner (sp?)
Don Ho
The Smothers Brothers
Donny and Marie
Carol Burnett (this was easily one of my faves of the genre)
Muppet Show
Laugh in
There were so many....does anyone remember some of the others?

Did someone say Charlene Tilton was on the show last night. I didn't even notice her.
Linda Grey looks awesome for her age!
Oh, the show revolves around JR, if they ever marginalize his part they are in trouble. I watched with low expectations and really liked them having a lot of twists/backstabbing involved, that's what the show is suppose to be about.ConcordCowboy;4593587 said:I liked it for Bobby and mostly JR....just like the original
Larry Hagmen was born to play JR.
If those two are off the show then it's done...cause John Ross and Christopher suck.
Linda Gray looks good for her age.
Charlene Tilton looks horrendous for hers.
