Presuming Robinson is off the board…
Yeah I know we have Pollard…but there’s the injury and the one year contract…and mainly how do you pass on Gibbs? And although I like Charbonet a lot, clear drop off after BJ and Gibbs.
IMO he’s one of the best playmakers in this draft. Thought?
Last time we took a scat back in the late 1st round it was Felix Jones. I'm apprehensive.

I'm not taking Mayer with Robinson still on the board. The Cowboys thrive on the running game . The chance either of them are still on the board are slim anyway. Then you go maybe go Gibbs or look at Charbonnet in the 2nd. I think the Pitt RB goes higher than the 4th. He looks every bit of a higher round RB. The guys game tape is off the chart. Avila isn't falling to 58 either.
Rest assure. If Robinson is there all this talk about all other prospects are moot. They ain‘t passing on him.

Seriously, if Robinson or Gibbs is available, the Cowboys would be foolish not to draft them. You get six years by drafting a top RB in the first round - 4year rookie contract, plus 5th year option, plus one year on the franchise tag. Robinson or Gibbs are game changers - especially with Pollard coming off an injury in January. Depending on an injury-recovery from Pollard, plus Jones doesn’t make a lot of sense for a team that wants to rely more on the run, per McCarthy.

I like him a lot, but not in the first round. We'll likely pass on him for OL or Defense.

Would still take Robinson over Gibbs, but Robinson is a non factor unless we trade up.
Staying put at 26, Gibbs is probably there, and like you say, fits the MM scheme to a tee.

What if they hold out after their 3rd season like Zeke?

Bijan is the only RB I would take in the first round.

Now maybe if we could trade down to the top of the 2nd round and take Gibbs, that would be ideal.

Honestly, I think we are going to draft oline at 26, probably Cyrus if he is there.

Dude is 6-5, 347 pounds................plug him in at LG for the next decade.

I understand, but I don’t think they’ll do that. I think they plan on using Tyron at LT with Tyler at LG. Obviously, Martin will start at RG.

I think they’ll go another position in the first. I could see them taking a guard in the second, or later to prepare for next season.

Obviously, we can’t know yet, so maybe you’re right. We’ll see. If they end up with a first round guard, I’ll make sure give you props for getting it right.
I see no chance of a deep run if we are relying on Tyron Smith for more than anything other than a backup swing.

I just like messing with you and CowboyNY. The Cowboys will draft a guard early in this draft. I actually think that finishing the line is what they want to do and I include tight end with that. The new offensive coaching staff specialize in running the football. I think MM wants the Cowboys to run the ball better in certain situations and was not happy with the way Kellen would run the offense. The option routes pissed the coach off the most especially during the Packers game.
If they go out in the first 3 rounds and grab guard, TE, RB then we will be ready to roll. I would be more than happy with that.

Tyron is playing LT.

Do your own homework on our FA moves…the fact you don’t know makes your draft takes highly questionable.
LOL............Yah right. Tyron will be hurt before the season starts or shortly after it starts. So once Tyron gets hurt who is playing LT? And who is playing RT if Steele isnt 100% ready to go? And then who is playing 'right guard?

You still havent answered who the high end backup guard is we just signed.

They are going to managed Pollards touches as he hasn’t carried the load since high school
This is his final year in Dallas on the franchise tag.

They'll definitely increase his touches from what he got last year. His longevity is no longer a concern for the Cowboys.

I'm becoming more and more opposed to using anything higher than a 3rd round pick on a RB this year.

It would be just plain silly, in my opinion. You already have three capable backs...

If I were the Cowboys, I would try to somehow pry Aaron Shampklin away from Indy.

Depends on if they want to re-sign Pollard next year or have a replacement ready by then...

But they would still need him for the late, meaningful games

Tyler moves to LT and Chuma plays LG if Tyron gets hurt.

1st round - horrendous
2nd round - ok, but don’t love it
3rd/4th round - sweet spot

Chuma? That scrub they signed? He sucks. Try again.

The goal is to have a better Oline than last year. Between Steele and Tyron lets say you have 1 tackle covered. Who is playing the other tackle and who is playing guard?

If Tyler goes to LT than you need a new stud to play guard, not a scrub. Need a #1 pick there or a #2 and hope he can start.

Here ya go buddy..........Jerry basically said what I said but he sees Steele as the swing tackle, not Tyron.

  • Things are always subject to change, but as of right now, Jerry Jones said he sees Terence Steele as an offensive tackle, and probably the swing tackle behind Tyron Smith and Tyler Smith. Steele, who is rehabbing an ACL injury, is a restricted free agent with a second-round tender. Jones discussed the importance of having three players at tackle who can start, as opposed to moving either Steele or Tyler Smith inside to guard.
So I envision a guard coming in either the first round or the 2nd and he will be starting from Day 1. Your Chung guy will compete for a backup spot.

If this is the scenario I applaud Jerry for seeing that Tyron or Steele as a high end swing tackle and need to fill the guard position with a new young stud.

At 26, guard is one of the positions where can get a top end guard in the draft. It all lines up. Getting one that can start and be a stud in the 2nd round would be a stretch in my opinion.

I heard one commentor say that gives his old twitch no power? But he is electric I take a chance with him
