Actually turns 31 on Teusday.

Just saying.

OK...sorry...My bad...

Hey, three years is a lot of time...he's got great leadership capabilities....and in his three years as stater have been alot better than Bledsoe's last three.

Not a MAJOR upgrade but he's better...younger...and he is at least mobile enough in the pocket that we don't have to build the Great Wall of China around him.

I dont remember it being Parcells who didnt want him. It was more Jones wanting to see what we had. Remember Jones just made two blockbuster QB moves at the time. :D

Hola Dave...

So if Bill put his foot down, Jerry would have over ruled him?

NOT. :D

But he's just slightly better than Bledsoe.

This past season he was just slightly better than Bledsoe.

24/16 TD/INT vs 23/17 for Drew.

Both had a 60% completion, Drew had 200 more yards. Jake had Steve Smith.

Not a big improvement.

It was said many times that Parcells agreed to give these guys a shot when signed. Neither worked and both are gone. Wouldnt call it over ruling though. :D

I remember one game in particular where that one more interception probably cost us a playoff spot.

And once you figure in the fumbles and sacks Bledsoe gives up I don't think the margin is that narrow.

Well, yeah, if you take a freeze frame shot of it...but in 8 of 13 seasons, Bledsoe has broken the 80 passer rating...Delhomme as a starter, has done it in each of his three seasons as a starting QB.

He's better.

I'm not suggesting he's Elway...but he is better...

Yep...he agreed to give them a shot...if he was able to evaluate QB's better than he does....ya know this is the guy who start Scott Brunner of Phil Simms...he would very simply have been able to let Delhomme know, "You're the guy"...regardless of giving the other guys a shot...

Fact is, if he wanted him here badly enough, he would have had him.

Agreed the last two years would have been much better. We might have even made some noise in the playoffs in 2003.

Would it have been a good move? Yes.

Did we pass on Carson Palmer? No.

Do we have someone just as effective now? Almost.

Does it solve the #1 beef everyone has with Parcells that he leaves in 2006 or 2007 with a 'young' QB for a team to keep building on? No. The next coach would be looking to draft a QB too.

ANd coincidently those 8 seasons when Drew broke 80 he was on a good team with a good O-line, very good receivers and a solid running game. Well, except for this year.

Jake has had those things all 3 of his seasons as a starter.

Two separate arguments...personally, I'd still rather see Henson playing.

My point about Bledsoe is that the biggest downside is that he is one dimensional AND that the offensive line in front of him has to be EXCELLENT..not just good....Delhommme isn't a scrambler, but he can move in the pocket and you can get away with something less than an excellent line in front of him...which means, you'll have some $$$$ to spend elsewhere.

Jake would have had like a 75 rating on the Cowboys this year. Without Steve Smith, he would have been horrid. The only game I've seen him be really impressive in was the SB, every other time he looks quite pedestrian. He's had some receivers make some amazing plays for him.

Did you just call the Dallas OLine "good"?

Just like Jake has been on all three of his seasons.

Sorry...typo...in 8 of the 13 seasons he HASN'T broken 80

OK....so let's put an end to this one...

How 'bout one of you how favors Bledsoe putting up a poll?

Simply question....Carolina calls you and offers to trade Jake Delhomme even up for Drew Bledsoe...do you make the trade, Yes or No?

True, but if Bledsoe does get time and you allow him to get in a rythm, he can roll you in a way that Delhomme can't IMO. His arm is neither as strong nor as accurate.

I would absolutely take Jake right now over Bledsoe, I'm not saying it wasn't a mistake, and most of it can be blamed on our stupid insistence that Q and Hutch remain in the QB picture in 2003.

But I don't think its something that would have completely solved our O-line problems this year or defensive problems last year. And Henson still would not be playing, who I think will have a higher upside than Delhomme if gets the mental part straight.

Cool. I hear ya. Absolutely.

And I agree about Henson.

Thanks.

Delhomme is only 3 years younger than Bledsoe? Damn, thats surprising. Also, Parcells could've traded Romo to the Jets this year when Pennington went down, but didn't want to. I think they like Romo, maybe Romo is our QB for the future!? IDK...hopefully he's like a best-kept secret
