maybe grab a TE in the late rounds, but no need to wste one of the top 5 picks for one. Ferg has shown to be someone you would look for in the draft, so now they can gameplan him as a starter and he will do just fine.Lol, he made a couple of plays where they schemed him open disguising him as a blocker. In the 3 games Schultz was out or left early and he was the primary TE he had 7 rec for 60 yards. His ceiling is blocking TE who’ll get 350 yards receiving every couple of years!
Ferguson is not a receiving TE! We have late round backup type late round players. We need a legitimate receiving player who can stretch the seem and create mismatches. We need OL, LB, DT, CB, RB, WR in the draft (not necessarily in that order) but obviously if the right TE lands in the mid picks then ok.
well I disagree. Ferg made Schultz expendable so I am glad we didnt waste a ton of money for a player that is only just above average. Hendershot has potential to be something great as well. Lets shore up more important areas of this team like DT, LB, OL and even WR. saying that, my thought on draft is BPA so if a top TE is best player available, then draft him.Ferguson is not a receiving TE! Both are slow for the position. Ferguson ceiling is #2 blocking TE who catches dump offs, occasionally breaking one dependent on bad technique from the DB. Hendershot had injury issues in college (why he went undrafted) rarely gets better this level!well I disagree. He had a couple nice moments but he doesn’t look like a guy that can run route routes downfield for big plays.
Uh no.Uh yeah, the myth of Rice running an actual 4.7 was was debunked years ago and that’s pretty clear to anyone who watched him play. He was from a tiny school, didn’t train and didn’t know how to run it. His actual speed was closer to 4.45 and coaches knew it going into the draft!
Lol, his official combine time was 4.81, he unofficial pro day was somewhere between 4.71 and 4.77. It’s not too hard to look up, has been discussed by multiple during this thread and was talked about incessantly on NFL network on draft day when we picked him!Uh no.
His 4.71 was recorded at the combine.
You don't get to debunk facts.
haha.. You just pulled his "actual" speed out of your butt.
You are only showing that you don't seem to understand what makes the TE effective.
These guys are about catch radius, body control, shielding LBers and Safeties from the ball.
This isnt WR's that need to beat 4.3 40 corners.
Stop it man.
Noah Brown says hello. Repeatedly.Give him? You have to get open and earn the trust of your qb.
Those are all elite TE’s and/or future Hall of famers. No one is expecting that from Ferguson.Hmmmm…. Kittle 4.52, Kelce 4.61, Goedert 4.67, Gronkowski 4.68, Witten 4.65
Nope, but there’s 3 or 4 players you can reasonably expect there production from in the first 2 1/2 rounds of this draft if you don’t settle for a JAG!Those are all elite TE’s and/or future Hall of famers. No one is expecting that from Ferguson.
Plenty of successful well rounded TE’s that run 4.7 or higher: Hockenson, Ertz, Friermuth, Kmet, Schultz.
He’s more quick than fast (80th percentile in 10 yard split and 20 yard dash) and has a 35 inch vertical. You’d think he has the athleticism of Brett Maher the way you keep bringing up his 40 time.
Anyone who watched him play could see he’s an above average athlete.
Good reporting and good opinions. He flashed whenever he had the ball in his hands last year. Turned dumpoffs into big plays. He’s a YAC threat at the TE position.
Travis Kelce was asked about TE’s that remind him of himself back in Feb. He singled out Jake Ferguson as a guy he’s excited to watch in the future.
TE isn’t a need.
It was a blend of veterans and young TE’s.Many of them veterans. He was asked specifically about young players just starting in the league.
Means nothing.
An emergency outlet?Dont get too excited. The TE position is mostly an emergency outlet for the QB here.
Your welcome to pretend when KM called a play the #1 target was the TE that often. Or realize it was mostly dak seeing what the defense is doing pre snap and deciding to goto the TE option. An emergency outlet?
Let’s just make stuff up!
I’ll be pissed if we take a TE high in the draft Quite a few mock drafts have us taking a TE in the first round. Ferguson and Hendershot need a shot. They are good enough to not waste a high draft pick. Would rather have DT, OL or CB depth.I'll take Kelce, you can have Ferguson...
Tight end is definitely a need!
Good enough is good enough!!! there's a reason one was taken in the fourth round and one was undrafted,, Tight end is a nightmare for defense to cover in this league and there needs to be a priority on getting a great one and not settle for good enough..they may develop into a decent tight ends but that doesn't preclude the team from drafting a difference maker early in an especially deep draft for tight ends...I’ll be pissed if we take a TE high in the draft Quite a few mock drafts have us taking a TE in the first round.
