Yes, because Ed Reed had NINE interceptions in his last season at Miami, three times the number of interceptions Ramsey had in his entire career. Meanwhile, Ezekiel had 23 touchdowns in his final season. Twenty. Three. But hey! Screw production! We need an ATHLETE! LOL.
Don't screw production but while 5th year senior Reed was honing his skills at his same S spot, Ramsey came out after three years of new positions each season. I'm not sure that college production of pick stats is as predictive as you guys would have people think.
Right now, Ramsey is merely introduced in terms of skill development but he is at that point with every position in the secondary. Jack of all trades with major upside. The biggest issues he has is timing and technique polish. Not properly breaking down to finish. Ball skills.
As for his ball skills, they are another work in progress. He is inconsistent timing to look for the ball in trail technique. Dude is a relentless worker though. You can tell he's been living with a jugs machine becoming a better hands catcher. He has the long arms and big hands to snatch the ball at high point. He's taking his biggest criticism and is working to correct it. He's been showing it off at every workout. He will continue to improve with a work ethic like that.
Most of Ramsey's issues are technical problems. It's not like the game is too much for him. He diagnoses plays quickly and attacks. He has a presence on the field. He gets that hyperawareness from opposing offenses who are clearly keying off of him and reacting to his actions.
I think the defense could use a personality like Ramsey to bring the defense some energy. I love the stoic warriors like Jones and Lee who are focused intensity. Ramsey is much more gregarious. If he can do what he did for FSU sans the Oregon nonsense it would be a major boon for coverage that has lacked cohesion for a decade.
