In the modern era (1970-2015) there have been only 6 DB's selected in the top 4 and 52 selected in the top 10.

Not one of the players on this list for whom PFR has data had a final college season without an interception.

Just saw on ESPN they compared Bosa to J.J. Watt because they actually have nearly (and i mean literally pretty much the same) measurable they put up at the combine

I am not in favor of drafting Jalen Ramsey with the 4th pick. Or drafting any other DB that high for that matter.

But Ramsey's a better talent than Jammer with more upside. Jammer played like a corner, Ramsey plays like a safety. He is a far more physical player (though that is possibly a detriment in today's game). Ramsey will wind up a safety in the near future IMO, and he should be evaluated in that regard.

A lot of Ramsey's lack of playmaking was how he was used. Eric Berry was probably the best playmaking safety in college football his first 2 years. His final season, he had 2 picks and no sacks because Monte Kiffin decided his best playmaker was best used as a centerfielder a mile from the action.

No, what Eric Berry had was 14 interceptions in his college career, nearly five times the number that Jalen Ramsey had. In other words, production. Tangible evidence that he actually was a ball hawk that would continue to do that at the next level. Ramsey has shown nothing.

Except the ability to prevent the WR from catching the ball--which is pretty much his job.

Watt did it with 20 more pounds on him. Watt was way more impressive.

Watt at combine- 6'5" 290lb.
Bosa at combine - 6'5" 269lb.

Watt also has bigger hands and longer arms.

Orlando Scandrick pretty much did the same thing at Boise State.
He was a 5th round pick.

The average passer rating of opposing quarterbacks when they target Ramsey is 39.9. To compare, the worst team passer rating in the country is Georgia Sothern’s average of 65.73.

The average completion percentage of passes toward Ramsey is 30.7 and he’s allowing 2.9 yards per target.

Those numbers are stellar, but would be even more impressive if a 25-yard completion against Texas State didn’t occur. Ramsey diagnosed the play as a run when he saw a lineman downfield and was burnt on a long pass.

“I don’t like many excuses or anything, but it was a run,” Ramsey said. “There were linemen downfield, the quarterback pulled the ball…and I read run. It should’ve been a penalty but it wasn’t.”

If that play was negated, Ramsey would be surrendering just 1.25 yards per passing attempt and opponents would have a passer rating of 18.83 when targeting him.

No...if you want him...go get him. This value thing is way overrated. If you can get him at #4, you go get him. Regardless if its Zeke, Ramsey, or Bosa. You trade down and try to get cute, and you miss out on both guys that you might of had in mind. There's no such thing as value until you play the game. Sheeesh!

You do realize a move from 4 to 8 is worth 400 points which is roughly a mid 2nd round pick?

I'll admit I didn't know any of this, and that it's impressive.

Ramsey is all over the ball like football like bacon, just hasn't shown to consistently catch the skin.

To justify Ramsey at no. 4, that dude has to be a game-changer - numerous decisive interceptions during the year, damaging hits that jar the ball out of the receivers/running back hands which causes fumbles or incompletions, crucial timely deflections on passing attempts, touchdown returns on either interceptions or special teams, many tackles behind the line of scrimmage, & a vocal in-your face team leader.

Not quite sure his past record at FSU demonstrates the above requirements.

But hey, he can sure run fast, jump high, perform well in the 3-cone drill, 20-yard shuttle, & boy, he physically 'resembles' Patrick Peterson/Deion Sanders -- so yea, it is no brainier he must be the pick at no. 4.
I love these completely made-up requirements.

To justify a player at #4, that player has to be the best player available at that pick. Full stop.

I think the big difference is Watts is relentless he goes all out on every snap. If there is one question I have with Bosa it would be taking plays off. I have watched Bosa dominate in games but have also seen times when the same effort is not there.
