So roll out one less receiver to bring in a fullback? What was the point of drafting another receiver if you do this?
Who said you have to get rid of a receiver? bring in a FB for most passing downs instead of a RB or are you worried we’ll miss zeke’s fumbles, slips, safeties and stellar 2.4 ypc?

Zeke isn’t the problem, in fairness to him he’s playing hard behind a poor OL and getting limited touches due to our attack basically being pass, pass and pass.
It’s Lawrence and Jaylon we need to get rid of... If we can get a defence that stops the opposition more, then we can use Zeke like we should be.
All our problems start and end with what is probably the worst defence in NFL history.

yup hes on the field 90% of the snaps vs 66% in years past being used like blocking FB and what not..when he is handed the ball its like yes just run straight ahead and hurry so we can pass the next 10 plays!

hes being worn out physically ive never seen tailback being used 90% of the snaps in a pass happy offense and hardly running it , hes BLOCKING.. hes not getting any rest and then chat vanilla run pays into a bad line.. its sad how they are using him.. if im him id want to be traded..hes being ripped by fans and Media for his stat decline , yet noones truly noticing the actual real reasons are coaching philosophy scheme changes and being over used as blocker.. get a true FB for that, zeks a dynamic tailback not FB!!

let zeke come in fresh to run..sad sad sad

Zeke's contract doesn't allow him to be traded unless we swallow a whole lot of salary cap. He's staying at least until the end of 2021 and more likely 2022

3 easy dropped passes, a safety, 3 fumbles (2 of which resulted in TD’s for the other team) and 2 games with a ~ 2.5 ypc average isn’t a problem?

In a trade the Cowboys would take Zeke's bonus on their CAP so the team that trades for him would only be on the hook for his salary. That's $6.8 million this year (which would be prorated for games he plays) and $9.6 million in 2021. It goes up to $12.4 in 2022 but his new team could convert some of that to bonus and lower his cap hit. I don't think teams would shy away from his contract. His production might be the issue, although a team in need of a RB might be willing to make a deal for a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

The Bigger problem is the Cowboys would be on the hook for Zeke's bonuses and that amounts to about $35 million which they would take over this year and next. Still, that is a lot of dead money when they have to sign Dak.

The reality is, they are going to have to live with Zeke, Lawrence, Jaylon Smith and Amari Cooper for at least another year or 2.

Jerry gets too emotionally attached and will never trade one of his guys away. You know he had nothing to do with that Herschel Walker trade that built the Super Bowl teams. Seriously, when was the last time we traded a player away? Jerry has given up four 1st round picks for WRs over the years, but I can't think of a single player trade he has made.

Elliott should have never been drafted in the first place. You don't need to spend a top 5 pick on a RB especially with how stacked their offensive line was in 2016. They weren't a RB away from winning...they needed defense (they've needed a defense for a decade now). We could have paired Jalen Ramsey with Byron Jones and drafted Derrick Henry in the 2nd round.

For some reason the contract's impact to the salary cap is rarely thought of when suggesting hypothetical trades. People are so typically so concerned with a players salary and fear we may go into salary cap hell if we overpay a player but then suggest trading a player and creating salary cap hell with the move. :muttley:

Why do we have to keep hearing "he, she, they" aren't the problem.

Nobody is THE problem, there are many of them, but Zeke is one of the MAIN problems.
He's a below-average RB, who the coaches treat as elite meaning using him much more often in sutatuaions they shouldn't while he is also eating up a ton of CAP space, when his production could be replaced by a vet minimum player.
