He has shown more in practice and in this game than any other churned developmental quarterback we've had since Romo was on the team.

We need to keep this guy around. Vaughan looks okay, but Showers is dynamic and has a better arm.

Keep him. See if he develops, because if he does he has the potential to be really good, IMO.

Can either of them show some down field accuracy.......The door is open for Carson Wentz late in the 1st round.

Definitely if it came down to it, I would release Vaughan and roll with Showers.

For now, I would stick with Vaughan, Showers to the PS. Many times people see a 3rd or 4th team QB and think he is the next greatest QB find.

Maybe the next few games, I change my mind, but right now I am not convinced. Especially after a few quarters.

He won't make it through waivers to the practice squad if he keeps showing what he's got - especially with his willingness to try and play special teams just to make the roster.

He ended the game with 5/11 for 40 yards and a QB rating of 55.
Those numbers need to come way up before we worry about someone claiming him off of waivers.

I see both Vaughn and Showers as projects. Both guys would most likely clear waivers.

Lets see a deep out, or even a backshoulder completion from either of the backups before we open a can of kool-aid. For now, gonna enjoy another liter of Romo while we got him. Didn't see anything exciting from either of them at Camp last Sat or Sunday...

Showers threw 2 nice passes that were dropped, I doubt scouts look at the QBR but rather what they see on tape. Not saying he's the next Steve Young but he played well today, I definitely would like to see more of him in the preseason with 2nd team talent.

Showers looks like a great prospect but I do think he makes the PS. If we had a young starting QB with no injury history I would have Vaughn and Showers on the 53 and cut Weeden, but that isn't the situation we are in.

We need an experienced (if untalented) backup and Weeden only makes 660K in salary.

He hit reciever right in the hands but continued to drop them. The top 4 WR and all 4 TEs catches those balls. I only seen 2 balls he threw that weren't catchable

Showers had some good plays and wasn't helped by drops. He also had a couple of bad reads and bad throws. I doubt that any scouts from other teams watching his highlights from tonight are chomping at the bit for him to go on the waiver wire. Maybe that changes over the next few weeks? We'll see. But nothing he did tonight was convincing enough for me to move him ahead of Vaughn.

Not saying Vaughn lit it up. But he had some nice throws and one nice drive as well. Actually. He looked more composed then he has before. And he wasn't helped by some poor o-line play either.
Right now we have to hope Romo doesn't go down for more than a few plays. And we start looking for a QB with some real talent this offseason.
