Jameill Showers Should Make The 53

I counted 3 drops. 4 for 11 39 yards could easily have been 7 for 11 for 70 yards. How does that stat line look? He threw a couple of balls where he placed it perfect and the WR dropped it.

And Vaughn was 12-18 and I saw at least 2-3 recievers drop passes too.

He was also working with better players. Showers had way better pocket awareness then Vaughn with the ability to get out and pass on the run. Really don't want to carry 3 QBs on the roster this year though

Yep. He had two drives killed on drops which were both tough passes that hit the receiver in the hands. And he had pressure. I was impressed, apart from him staring down those receivers.

He did miss a wide open Street forcing one ball when the RT missed his assignment badly, too.

And playing against better players. That works both ways. And he still had pressure, drops, and little run support. His better teammates didn't help him all that much.

Better? The backup wr's were the same ones Showers had.

I thought Vaughan did pretty well considering his receivers dropped several balls that hit them in the hands. He has good mobility in the pocket and is accurate when on the run. To me, Showers should make the practice squad. I think we need to find another veteran backup. I don't trust Weeden to step in if we lose Romo for more than a game or two.

Once Bernadeau, Wetzel and Collins went out it was not pretty. Vaughn and Showers were running for their lives. I liked how Vaughn climbed the pocket to deliver his strikes when Mack and LC gave him room to step into. Weems and Dill had rough days.

He has shown more in practice and in this game than any other churned developmental quarterback we've had since Romo was on the team.

We need to keep this guy around. Vaughan looks okay, but Showers is dynamic and has a better arm.

Keep him. See if he develops, because if he does he has the potential to be really good, IMO.

#ShowerPower

I miss the 2nd half :(

I think Vaughan should be the #2 QB and if we keep a 3rd QB this year, it's a no-brainer that a developmental project like Showers should be on the 53. Weeden has been in the league 4 years and hasn't progressed one iota. He's no Matt Cassel/Hasselback, he's last week's milk toast someone forgot to throw away. #gingercriticalmassreached

I'm really looking forward to the back-up QB battle that will play out in these pre-season games.

I would cut Weeden and keep the youngn's

Vaughn made some nice throws, made some mistakes, played better with better players.

Showers looks like a great prospect but I do think he makes the PS. If we had a young starting QB with no injury history I would have Vaughn and Showers on the 53 and cut Weeden, but that isn't the situation we are in.

We need an experienced (if untalented) backup and Weeden only makes 660K in salary.

This kind of thinking baffles and frustrates me. Keep the experienced, subpar quarterback over the promising rookie talent who flashes far better production than mr. experience.

Showers looked like a borderline practice squad guy.

I was much more impressed with Vaughan tonight. He's still locking on receivers and needs the reps, but he hung in the pocket and threew with some heat. Showed pocket mobility and good athleticism.

When he locked onto to Escobar, missing Street underneath, I was besides myself... as was Street.

+1.

However, how is Weeden even experienced? Just because he was a bust of a first round pick and was on the Browns for 2 amazing years does not make him an experienced QB.

If Romo goes down, I rather see a guy like Vaughn out there than Weeden. At least there's a very small chance Vaughn could become something in this league, unlike Weeden.

Im scratching my head at the players people on here are ready to cut after today.

Vaughan looked alright to me. He didn't hurt himself.

If anything he looked good in the second quarter. On point with Street, and the potential TD pass to Escobar was nicely thrown, could of been a TD if Escobar didn't have to adjust his route due to the defender.
