Checking down is better than throwing to receivers who aren't open.
I counted 3 drops. 4 for 11 39 yards could easily have been 7 for 11 for 70 yards. How does that stat line look? He threw a couple of balls where he placed it perfect and the WR dropped it.
And Vaughn was 12-18 and I saw at least 2-3 recievers drop passes too.

He was also working with better players. Showers had way better pocket awareness then Vaughn with the ability to get out and pass on the run. Really don't want to carry 3 QBs on the roster this year though

And playing against better players. That works both ways. And he still had pressure, drops, and little run support. His better teammates didn't help him all that much.
He has shown more in practice and in this game than any other churned developmental quarterback we've had since Romo was on the team.
We need to keep this guy around. Vaughan looks okay, but Showers is dynamic and has a better arm.
Keep him. See if he develops, because if he does he has the potential to be really good, IMO.

Showers looks like a great prospect but I do think he makes the PS. If we had a young starting QB with no injury history I would have Vaughn and Showers on the 53 and cut Weeden, but that isn't the situation we are in.
We need an experienced (if untalented) backup and Weeden only makes 660K in salary.
Showers looked like a borderline practice squad guy.
I was much more impressed with Vaughan tonight. He's still locking on receivers and needs the reps, but he hung in the pocket and threew with some heat. Showed pocket mobility and good athleticism.
This kind of thinking baffles and frustrates me. Keep the experienced, subpar quarterback over the promising rookie talent who flashes far better production than mr. experience.

Im scratching my head at the players people on here are ready to cut after today.
Vaughan looked alright to me. He didn't hurt himself.
