Janoris Jenkins talks Cowboys on Ben & Skin

Dak missed a lot of reads and throws to Dez in the first game. Problem is that Linehan kept calling go routes when Dak couldn't make the play and stubbornly stuck with it instead of changing it up to get Dez involved. The 2nd game was a colossally bad by everybody on offense. Even the O-Line played poorly.

Romo is the only reason guys like Dez, Miles Austin, Laurent Robinson, etc. got paid. Even TO had his best year under Romo.

And on Dak: it's a very risky move letting Romo walk right now. QB’s come into the league with no tape on them, a simple offense to protect them, and a green light to just take off when they feel uncomfortable. They do well for a time, but as d coords get tape they find things to expose like RGIII couldn’t run to his left and throw they started blitzing him from the right flushing him left he looked like dog sht… Won the division his first year disappeared after that. Kapernick couldn’t read a defense to save his life stop the run stop his whole game. 2 good seasons with harbaugh, started to fall off in the second but his team carried him. These were top tier guys the franchise were banking on to pan out, the nfl is different if you can’t get better and change the way you play you’ll get exposed. Not saying it will happen to Dak, but every coord in the league is going to watch the giants tape and mimic it until he proves he can beat it. What if he falls apart?

Boys be screwed then. Boys drafting dak and falling heads over heels in love with him, sitting and then chasing romo out of town might be the biggest blessing in disguise for the rest of the league. How fitting would that be for this franchise over the last 2 decades, we finally build romo a borderline nfl team, just to run him out and replace him with a mediocre qb.

Its always been easy to get under Bryants skin. All the big name corners work at it. This is part of Jenkins remarks and be sure one way or the other Bryant will take the bait.
You and Guru do have a point here I admit that he needs to work on or preferably channel into production by having special plays designed to get him open other than the standards we've seen. That will allow him to win these battles instead of merely being frustrated, etc. (Kid in me wishes they could just have a boxing match pre game to settle the trash talk; you know Dez would win all of em:D)

I'm shocked a spread offense qb in his rookie year doesn't read defenses as well as a 13 year vet does
this
And to think Dak's first game as a pro (against the Giants no less) he should have won.

Of only TWill....
Dak had an epic rookie year. Don't see how anyone can argue that.
And going forward, Dallas has a ton to look forward to.

Janoris needs to run the ST LOUIS RAMS TAPE. Those routes looked pretty good then LOL.
Yeah, he talked about how much he's grown since then.
Good observation.

Jenkins the coaches in college and in SL used to laugh/scowl at him because he ran on instincts alone....didn't know how to breakdown tape well and was slack on studying fild.
They called him jack rabbit because he just reacted all the time vs knowing in advance.

Now he's obsessed with it and he's gone to a totally different level as a student of the game.
Dez wasn't the only guy he shut down this year for sure.

Teams will now game plan against Dak. Dak will also now prepare better for NFL defensive looks himself and find success against what every scheme the giants through at him. Dropped passes in the first giant game cost him from going 1-0. And what makes him mediocre? He's not Romo or any elite qb, but he played better than the majority of qbs this season.

The narrative of Romo's career: "If we just get him X, he'll be a Super Bowl quarterback."

Hope springs eternal in the minds of ardent Romo fans.

Dez is a great WR. He'd be an elite WR IMO if he was a better route runner and the staff used him differently and more creatively like Atlanta uses Jones, etc.

Bryant is hindered not only by his own issues but by a coaching staff that it's been said is fairly simplistic in how they use their WRs. They relied mostly on Romo being able to dissect what a defense was doing to find open guys.

Talk about a failed article. But to be fair. Jenkins has expanded his game greatly since SL. They were basing this on his performance there.

My guess is that Dez will get wind of this interview and will at some point burn Jenkins a few times. he got dominated last year though.

Could it be that our receivers aren't very smart?

I don't think that's it at all. Beasley isn't a brick. Williams is said to actually be a very bright guy.

Dez is an odd bird in that you see stories of him being a good worker but it seems if there's one area he neglects, it's being a better route runner.

In the end you can win with Bryant as your #1. But IMO, at the very least, as Prescott gets more experience, it's time to start finding ways to use the WRs better. We rarely run slants, things Bryant should be great at this his size. We rarely run rubs which would make covering Beasley a real pain in the butt.

I don't want to turn this into another whine fest about the coaches but IMO, I don't think there's anything really innovative or great about a Garrett offense. He relies on physical talent to win............ whether that be Romo being able to do what he does or have a massive OL and stud back that can just run over people even when the team is trying to stop the run.

I keep seeing this Griffin comparison and it always sounds like everyone forgets his knee issues. And his lack of a functional brain.

I am not saying Prescott is perfect, far from it. But to act like it was a Griffin-like mirage is ignoring the circumstances involved with the comparison.

Won the division his first year disappeared after that. Kapernick couldn’t read a defense to save his life stop the run stop his whole game. 2 good seasons with harbaugh, started to fall off in the second but his team carried him.

Kaepernick is another head case. Prescott has shown more signs of being a real QB than Kaepernick's gimmicked out performances when with Harbaugh. The whole team deteriorated when Harbaugh left as well.

Then you start over. It is not like Romo is some sure guarantee to handle a full season. His one drive was playing patty cake in a meaningless game against the Eagles.

If you could tell me Romo could withstand a full season, I might buy what you are attempting to sell.

If teams will just prepare for Prescott suddenly, what is going to stop them from simply taking out Romo by injury?

At the end of the day, Prescott is still going to start eventually, just how soon and how long. It is up to him to mature and the staff to help him get there.

Ben/Skin just can't let go of their boy Romo.

Just like some fans and posters here as well ...

All this post and reporting about talk of Dez1 and Dez2 .. game 1 and game 2 ..the catch is in that little bit about Romo that the OP wanted us to see ..

Can't wait for that black cat to be gone ...

LOL at the Dak hate starting to eek through in this thread.

Some of you really have to look in the mirror and realize the Romo run is pretty much over. Let it go.
