I like allen but theres no point in this. Just need a solid draft mainly dl and ol and s in the offseason and try again next year.

No, this team is not a player away. They are several players away. Their drafts have been better the last 2-3 years, they need to hold on to draft picks. They arent going deep in the playoffs with or without Jared Allen

With waters out the probability of 8-8 or worse becomes greater. No need to lock up a spot now that as you state can be better served next year.

PFT says the compensatory pick the Vikings would get for Jared Allen would be a 5th, not a third. So, we could offer them a better fifth.

So when we lost all those other guys, was our probability of 8-8 or worse greater then also? Hate to lose Waters, but some of this is over the top when you consider the losses and basically how horrible the D has been lately.

I'm not giving up on this season cause of Brian Waters, I see more reason to give up cause we have allowed 400 yards passing to half the QBs we have faced.

News is the Broncos are in on this, and have the room to absorb most of his salary.

Don't think that would be good for anyone......except maybe us for only this week.

The compensation has nothing to do with getting Allen. It's the salary he is due.

Yeah I don't see how anyone can ignore whats going on with our DL and defense in general. Our DL and safeties get abused every time they are on the field, yet some think its not a need for some reason.

Some must think this is arena football or something, our D is an embarrassment right now and most don't care, just want to score more points and talk about Dez.....who cares about that.

Its disgusting really.

Who's ignoring it? Besides maybe the FO by not drafting players for those positions? Why go out and get yet another older defensive player, who would possibly help this team to maybe another victory this season? That would be disgusting IMO. There is a need for YOUNGER players on this defense. They have a good start in Lee, Carter, and while Selvie isn't exactly young, he ain't bad, neither is Hayden.

There is also a need for better coaching all around, but, who cares.

Hayden is horrible. Selvie has his moments, just not enough of them and shouldn't be starting. The only guy out there that should be starting is Hatcher right now.

Also, we shouldn't be starting 2 safeties whose main weaknesses are in deep coverage.

Is Allen the answer, well he would definitely help. Would I actually make the move, depends on what the Vikings would want in terms of draft picks.

Yes but not because he will make a difference. I just want the team and talent to look more attractive when we pursue another big name coach in the offseason.

Horrible.? Glad you ain't a Dallas scout.. Horrible is a little much..

And, Allen is the answer for that team that actually has a chance at the Super Bowl. Not a team that is "still" building..And has been.

Seattle making 11th-hour push to trade for Vikings Pro-Bowl DE Jared Allen, per multiple sources. Vikings also talking to second team.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter29s
And @Mortreport says the Vikings are asking a second-round pick for Jared Allen but would consider a conditional third-round pick.

Because Seattle wants to win now, instead of playing it safe/playing not to lose (draft picks). Seattle wants to dominate, Cowboys are satisfied with status quo (and signing guys off the street does not entail any risk/desire to win now).

It's a moot point now, since the trade deadline has come and gone...but a 3rd round pick for Jared Allen doesn't seem like a good deal for us only based on the fact that a lot of our 3rd round picks in history have become really good players.

Cowboys taken in the third round
- Jason Witten
- Demarco Murray
- Jason Hatcher
- Terrance Williams
- Derek Ross (albeit he was only good for one season)
- Dat Nyguen
- Erik Williams
- Mark Stepnoski

I'm not giving up either , as I've been a fan since 1970 , just being realistic that he improved our line and will be missed.

Will be overjoyed if we do better, as that will mean our backups, which many of the starters are will be that much better in future years.
