You can put Jared Allen on the strong side. You have Ware and Allen and maybe just maybe we can get the necessary pass rush to pull off what Kiffin is trying to do here.

Getting Allen also lets us part ways with Ware next year a lot more easily.

No thanks... I want the running back on their team though his name is A.D. Peterson

Not sure he helps that much. You need pass rush and DBs to win the passing contest. I think we'll be ok offensively with another draft of OL, DL/pass rusher, and DBs.

He would be a fun toy with Marinelli coaching him. :)

Had a huge Viking's fan at work tell me Jared Allen was getting out played by a 4th round rookie tackle from the Packers - David Bakhtiari.

I was going to mention that.

In watching the game last night, it looked to me like the rookie owned Allen all night.

I didn't see him do a thing (unless I missed it)?

No way. If we are going to break the bank for a trade, we need a great RB.

You extend his contract. It's not difficult.

I'm not a cap guru. In fact I suck at it. But I think he'll want some money and I'm not certain we can resign those we need to do and pay him as well. Don't know just suspicious. When I say that I mean do it without mortgaging the future away entirely to make room.

No.

You're 100% correct.

This is a 'Madden football' level pipe dream.

And a foolish one at that to mortgage the future for a player whose best days are behind him.

Yes, you can extend him without mortgaging the future, but it all comes down to what decisions you want to make. I think Jared Allen at this point is more durable than DeMarcus Ware. I'd rather keep Allen than Ware at this point.

I think the combination of the two would help out this defense this year, and help you towards making a decision next year of just what to do about certain players.

At a 3rd rounder, I absolutely do it. We have to draft 2-3 defensive linemen next year pretty early anyways. If we can get Allen for maybe 3-4 years... It would be worth it.

People put draft picks on pedestals. Would you trade Crawford for Allen? Cause that is how I look at things. Yeah you can get a cheap young player in the draft, but you can also miss pretty badly. Picks aren't sacrosanct like many would have you believe.

They said during the game last night that the Vikings GM said no way they would trade him. Do you have a link saying they will or did you just guess this info?

You may be right about Allen over Ware. I'm not convinced with will play a lot more although I wouldn't be surprised if one or both play at a high level for a another few. I am concerned with Ware's neck.

I do think a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush but you have to keep in mind that draft choices are so much cheaper and allow you to more easily keep those you want to resign. Plus first rounders get 5 years. Signings like this are not always going to work out for you. But some do.

OK, but if not Allen, we need something on D. We're getting torched at levels almost unheard of in the history of the NFL.

Frankly after this season I think the Cowboys would be best to get rid of most if not all of their aging vets. They need to trim down players so that they can pay off all of that dead money. Maybe it would be good to start from scratch after this year.

Both Ware and Allen get doubled every play. Together one would be man on man every play. They would have to trade for him and extend him to make it work. A good pass rush can overcome allot of secondary problems. No way we can AP.
