Absolutely right, thanks.Although, Derek also ran a spread offense at Fresno St. and is having success, albeit very early in his career.

People will basically have no choice but to get over that QB in spread offenses stuff. It's not going anywhere in college and 90% of these QBs are going to be coming out of one. Not to mention more and more NFL teams are running the spread more often anyways.

I went and did my arm chair scouting of him and granted I'm not couchscout or xwalker or any of those guys but my opinion of him is horrible. He literally sux! In the 5 games I watched he threw and completed only 1 pass of over 30 yards. He is literally check down charlie. His accuracy is horrible, constantly missing open receivers and his pocket awareness is non existent. Wow... just wow! I have absolutely NO idea what people are seeing that are clamoring for him. Just my $.02.

He had over 65% completion rate last season....................yea, his accuracy is horrible:rolleyes:

Opinions vary but let me remind of a guy who scouts said he doesn't throw a nice spiral, lacks arm strength, ran one of the slowest 40 times ever for a qb at the combine (slower than some linemen), didn't really play his first two years of college, had to split time his senior yr in college with a freshman qb, and to top it off, his owner who drafted him didn't even know who he was after he was drafted. In fact 6 qbs were drafted before him. This qb has won 4 Super Bowls and has been in 2 ( maybe 3 ) others that he lost. Has led his team to several divisional first place finishes and will probably go down as one the best qb ever. That qb is Tom Brady so you never know.

Tom Brady can throw a spiral........Just saying. This kid can't:(

43 TD passes with 65% completion and you guys think he cant throw a football:facepalm:

There is probably a reason you guys don't get paid to scout...............just saying.

When you are referring to Philly, it's "Holy Schmidt's".

The problem with a lot of these guys though is that they are playing in a spread offense that doesn't translate to the NFL.

I always go back to Sam Bradford. So many people had him labeled as the next great QB.
I don't agree with you much Catch, but you are on it with this Wentz vs Goff stuff.

You couldn't be more wrong in your assessment. You don't throw for 43 TD's & only 13 INT (many of which weren't his fault) on 65% completion percentage with "horrible accuracy." All behind a lackluster O-Line, no less. He has the best accuracy/ball-placement, as well as the best anticipation, of any QB in this draft. He throws the best deep ball of any QB in this class. Good size at 6'4 214 lbs and will get bigger. Strong enough arm to make all the throws. Seems to be a football junkie with a good head on his shoulders from everything I've read. He's not a sure-fire franchise QB, but neither is anybody else in this draft. He's the best of the bunch, and that is why he will likely go #2 to Cleveland.

Goff reminds me a lot of Matt Ryan coming out of BC with about fifteen less pounds, but better touch on the deep ball. He seems to read defenses exceptionally well for as young as he is.

Now he can but when he came out of college the scouting report said his spiral was not tight for an NFL qb.

Henson threw a pretty ball. Peyton Manning has never thrown a tight spiral. I take the spiral stuff with a grain of salt.

Weeden throws one of the prettiest spirals but I don't want him to be my QB. QB is more about anticipation, understanding of D and delivering the ball where it need to be.

Wentz may have played more under center but he certainly played a significant amount of snaps from the shotgun spread formations as well.

Goff may have played in a spread, but it was against significantly better competition, for longer and with much better results than Wentz.

I'll take the kid who torched Pac-12 defenses for three years in the spread, over the kid who looked pretty good against FCS defenses for a season and a half.

What?????

Last I looked a QB is as good as his record.......

Sonny Dykes (2013–present)
2013 Sonny Dykes 1–11 0–9 6th (North)
2014 Sonny Dykes 5–7 3–6 4th (North)
2015 Sonny Dykes 8–5 4–5 4th (North)

14 wins in 3 years?????

I know times are bad here in Big D......but that's just unacceptable on any levelo_O

Jared Goff: 12,000 yards passing. 90 TD's. 30 INT's. Career 144 passer rating. Pac-12 conference.
Carson Wentz: 5115 yards passing. 45 TD's. 14 INT's. Career 153 passer rating. FCS school.

Trying to hold the Cal Bears win/loss record against Goff and use it to undermine what he has done is about as ignorant as your comments about knowing more because you played past high school. Anyone who played as little as Pop Warner knows, it takes a team to win games. Cal has been one of the worst teams in a power five conference while Goff has been there. If anything, the numbers he has been able to put up while being essentially the only NFL prospect on that team, as even more impressive.
