Cowboys signed Vanderbilt WR Chris Boyd.

Boyd (6-foot-4, 206) was kicked off Vandy's football team prior to the 2013 season after being arrested on an aggravated rape charge. He later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor. As a true freshman and sophomore, Boyd compiled 81 catches for 1,247 yards (15.4 YPR) and 13 scores. Although Boyd displayed NFL-caliber traits as an early-career collegiate, the off-field red flag combined with a 4.73 forty time at the Combine and 12 bench reps torpedoed his stock. He's a talented long shot.

Chris Boyd dismissed from Vanderbilt football program

On the same day Vanderbilt starting wide receiver Chris Boyd was kicked off the football team for trying to cover up a June 23 rape incident involving teammates in a university dorm, prosecutors said the team's starting quarterback was "misidentified" as having been on the scene after the attack.

On Friday at a plea hearing for former wide receiver Chris Boyd, Deputy District Attorney General Tom Thurman read details in court that indicated Boyd and two others helped move an unconscious 21-year-old woman from a hallway back into a dorm room after she had been raped. He didn't name the other individuals, but read a text out loud in which Boyd identified Vanderbilt's starting quarterback, Austyn Carta-Samuels and tight end Dillon van der Wal, as helping to move her.

But Tuesday, four days after the hearing, the Davidson County District Attorney General's Office said that Boyd was in error when he suggested that Carta-Samuels helped move the woman back into the dorm room where she was attacked.

There may have been some picks in the past that were character question marks. But seems JG and the Cowboys are taking more of risk this year, I guess 'cause he doesn't have a contract after this year.

Boyd - kicked off team
Lawrence - 3 infractions, not with law, but still issues that were brought up
Street - had a legal infraction
Wake Forest RB - issues with coaches at WF

The guy made a bad decision to help out guys he considered close friends but has since been cooperating fully. If he had been present when the incident occurred, no way is he in Dallas. You just have to hope he learned a valuable lesson and is grateful for an opportunity. I have no problem signing him because I think he was put in a very tough spot and did exactly what a whole lot of people would do. That doesn't make it right but I also don't feel it should keep him from a shot at the NFL.

lol.

Cowboys pick Martin and not Manziel.

Media goes nuts.

Cowboys pick up an undrafted free agent who confessed to covering up a rape.

Crickets.

I can see Walter Cronkite shaking his head in my mind's eye.

Can he catch a pass thrown 3 feet behind his back? If the answer is yes then "what the problem is"?
I'm just kidding.

I do this sort of thing sometimes. Where I'm thinking 'acquire' and so the spelling looks reasonable, but somehow not right. Funny, though. Better than WR corpse, which I also saw over the weekend.

I have never before been a member of the spelling police, but this one trips me out.

Hehe I'm with you on this. How the heck is choir even the right spelling. In what world do we live in that CH can make the Q sound. :p That is one word that is fun to let little kids try to sound out.

Since he helped cover up the crime, he is just as guilty and has no business wearing the star...pathetic in my book...

How does anyone know he helped cover it up. If he wasn't present how did he know, other than what they told him. I'm don't think his friends initially said, hey we raped a girl can you help us move her....
He most likely found out later. Now maybe he should have questioned it more, but he's a young kid starting college. But we don't know the entire circumstances from an article giving the basics of him being kicked off the team. Not the actual events of the crime.
