IRVING – The Cowboys added a second quarterback to their practice squad Sunday night when they signed former Boise State star Kellen Moore.

Moore, 26, joined the Detroit Lions as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2012. He was part of the team’s 53-man roster the previous three seasons but was never active for a game.

“Kellen is just a really good football player and has been, really throughout his whole life,” Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said Monday. “I think he had 53 starts in college and he won 50 of them – just a very, very productive player. He knows how to win, knows how to play. Obviously, Scott [Linehan] was with him in Detroit and had a great experience there with him – someone he’s been very fond of and we’ve been fond of since he came out of school.

“He’s obviously not the biggest, the strongest, the fastest, the greatest arm – all of those things that some people get enamored with, but he’s a good football player at a really important position.”

Jameill Showers was released when Dallas trimmed its roster to 53 on Saturday but

Yeah, Vaughn really looked bad this last game...almost like he was either tired, injured, or just did not seem to compete like he should have. But, I'm glad Showers made the PS. I know nothing about Moore.

Kellen Moore is a project, just like Showers. Only difference is Moore has a noodle for an arm.

What a stupid arse question.............................the reason they didn't keep Vaughn on the 53 or the practice squad is because he freaking sucks.

Dude couldn't complete a pass more than 10 yards all preseason and they wonder why he was released.................unbelievable.

Neither will contribute as a NFL QB.

Moore is going to make a decent coach one day though.

His noodle is more accomplished in my opinion. I got to watch a lot of Moore while he was at Boise St. The dude was a really good QB and played at a very high level for the Broncos. I'm glad he's here.

With all that said, I sure hope we draft a QB with one of our top three picks next year.

DId a reporter actually ask why they didn't re-sign Vaughan? I mean, I know they have a job to do, but what do you expect him to say? He wasn't good enough?

that's precisely what Chip Kelly said when asked why Tebo didn't make the team, which struck me as unprofessional and not necessary.

How bad is Moore's arm really? Never really watched him play just have seen countless mentions of his "noodle arm" here since he got picked up.

LOL its not as bad as what people are saying. He can't throw it 100 yards like most QBs can. But he has perfect touch, timing and accuracy. Warner didn't have a strong arm also. But it got the job done.

Well, it's not unprofessional when the entire football world knows it.......excluding Tebow, of course. ;)

Wasnt Tebow a winner too? I agree with you, being a winner in college doesnt equate to the pros.

Just wanted to point out that Tebow has a winning record for the games he started and a playoff win.

His mechanics are awful which limits what he can do as a pure pocket passer and his arm is average to below average which doesn't help him any. But he does win when he plays more often than not. But really glad he is not here. Very surprised he didn't get picked up though he actually looked a lot better this preseason than he has ever looked in the nfl.
