Jason Garrett sounds like a MAN in his Wednesday presser

I was impressed as well. The tempo of the PC was 10X faster than Wade. Also, I don't think he said "You know" once. Sounds like he has thought about HCing for a long time! And he said several things such as "What do you need from me?" "Is there anything you need form me?" when talking about his relationship w/ the coaches. This is what a good manager does. Hopefully this will work out...

Anything...and I do mean ANYTHING is better then Wade. He was the most detrimental aspect of our destroyed culture anround here then just about anyone to work within this franchise.

Lets give Garrett a chance. He is without question an improvement over Wade in a best case scenario and certainly no worse in bad case scenario.

Lets see what he can do before we beat the guy to a pulp.

doesn't matter how he acts, his act is over in 8 games...he won't be the cowboys headcoach next year

Wow, not even going to give him 8 games to change your mind?? It's a stacked deck against him.

What if he gets the team turned around? Not saying wins, but what if he goes 3-5 and is competitive in games? Does he get another chance next year with Romo back and a better offensive line.

I am betting on him to be a top 5 Head Coach in the NFL very soon.

I am with you Hostile. This is the best hire for the Cowboys they could have made, IMO.

Why when I saw the title it made me think of the Oklahoma State coach.

Maybe it was just me, but I thought something crazy happened in that press conference.

I don't believe that any coordinator has "complete autonomy" over a unit, because he's held hostage to how his head coach conducts and runs his practices. The units don't practice seperately, they practice against each other. If the head coach doesn't mind a lazy, lethargic mistake riddled practice with no physically and no pads and no hitting, that's the way the practice is going to be run for the entire team, not just one unit. If you've ever watched a training camp practice in an 11-on-11, 7-on-7 or 9-on-9 drill, the assitant coach doesn't decide when to run a broken play again, the head coach does.

No, not in a properly structured team situation. However, that was not the case here. Because to be frank, it sounds like you're saying he was not responsible for the performance of the offense. And I just don't see it that way. There have been lots of teams where one side of the ball performed markedly better than the other and those also coincided with strong coordinators.

I still believe he didn't deserve or earn to be where he is, but nonetheless I'm behind him and hope he can start to clean up this mess. Or at least get these guys to compete.

I'm really happy to see him take charge. He is the head coach. There isn't any question about that.

Why did he not address the OL confusion question?

That's curious to me. Strange.
Because it was just the opinion of a guy with a head shaped like a lawn dart. Everybody has an opinion and apparently though he respects cone heads playing ability he found his opinion lacking.

As much as he changes about the process this week, I can't imagine you'll be able to tell a huge difference after just a few days. I'd imagine that the real test of whether this new process is effective will be a few weeks down the line.

Yea, I don't think you can change the culture of this team around in 1 week. This is going to take some time.

Are you certain of this? He did have one hell of a debut in 2007. Our offense was one of the top units in the NFL. Much better than our defense.

And he did get a couple of HC offers after that.

From my point of view, I always saw our offensive failings over his tenure more of a lack of OL health or talent than poor coaching.

And of course you do realize he is only or interim HC.
