I enjoyed that press conference. He sounded great. Not only did he say all the right things, but he said them the right way.

I especially like the bit about playing the best players, regardless as to how they got to the team (free agent, rookie, etc.).

I hope he's as good as he sounds and better than his past performance (as OC).

Almost makes you wonder why Jerry didn't pull the plug on Wade sooner.

he didn't want to get his hands dirty...

Honestly I think Jerry had a remarkable friendship with Wade and he mixed business with friendship. Jerry has always said he wanted Wade to lead this team to a Super Bowl but Wade is Wade and his track record speaks for itself. In the end Jerry got caught between firing a great friend rather than a head coach and he hesitated because of that.

If nothing else, he may land a spot in a Coors Light commercial.

"Hey Coach Garrett, who are you playing this week and what time are you playing?"

I agree with everything you said except for wondering why it didn't happen sooner. I think Jerry really wanted Wade to succeed and Jerry himself admitted he was in denial.

As for Garrett, I imagine he's running on a lot of adrenaline right now. I like that he's stepping up with a definite idea of the direction he wants to go because that is really needed. As others have said, the real test will come in the trenches when the thrill is gone.

I wish him the best and think that this would be the best scenario for the Cowboys moving forward, if it can work. The guy is young, energetic, knows the Cowboys, and isn't a retread. I think we would be more likely to see Romo in a Superbowl before his career ends with this type of situation than bringing in a whole new coach and system. But ultimately I want what's best for the team. I don't want to spend another 3 years trying to figure out if Garrett can be the coach. The window of opportunity is beginning to close for some very talented players on this team.

Be afraid Jerry, be very afraid, you've let the genie out of the bottle. You're about to lose control of your team.

That's a *** wonderful thing.

I'm like a couple of others here - not blown away. I see a guy who had complete autonomy over a lousy offense that got worse under his direction year by year being rewarded. That said, Wade had to go and this move makes as much sense as possible given the labor situation especially.

The whole "speaking from the podium" deal meant nothing to me. You control the room or you don't. Parcells sat at a table and there was no doubt who controlled the room. Other coaches do the same. It's the individual and Wade's demeanor, particularly while losing, left lots to be desired.

As a result, I also agree that I think the overriding euphoria is ABW - anyone but Wade - and as a result so much is being made of so little.

I am not against Garrett at all, other than my feeling he didn't earn his stripes for the position - as an OC or interim HC. But he's the HC of my team now so I would like to see him and by extension, my team, do well. And I have no problem also saying I like the change to pads.

Of course, as has been said here already, we'll all see how what he does translates to the field.

Yeah he kept harping on the ratings went down 42% between week 1 and last week's game in the Dallas area when it comes to the Cowboys. I was like why do you care? Even when people tried to give him a reasonable answer as to why this is happening, he kept going on about it because he didn't get the answer or reaction he wanted. He wanted somebody to come out and say that yes, Cowboy fans are bandwagon fans.

Why did he not address the OL confusion question?

That's curious to me. Strange.
