Not true. It's the time when you have to call plays like a dinasour. I know it's old school and boring but there comes a time when you run straight ahead and call some screens. You have to get them to stop the pressure or pay for bringing it. When FREEZE draw doesnt work and your losing 5 yards STOP calling it.

a) The Cowboys DID call some screen plays, but they didn't work.

b) Cowboys weren't going to run straight ahead against the Vikings, even if there was no pressure. The strength of the Vikings run defense is up the middle with their two massive tackles. Their " weakness " is their ends because of their speed rush. The Cowboys did well exploiting the ends with pulls and " stretch " plays where Felix got to the outside.

Once again, the problem was the O-line overall play. Because of their horrible play, the Cowboys didn't score points. Because they didn't scored points ( and turn the ball over ) they fell behind. From there, the game just snowballed into a disaster on offense.

Everyone likes the slow developing plays and the tricks when they are working including me but when they don't work against a front four like this, you have to adjust. I mean we just saw our o-line be dominated, with these play calls against this this style d-line. Garret did not give our o-line A CHANCE TO SUCCEED. He is STUBBORN.

The O-LINE didn't give THEMSELVES any chance whatsoever.. There isn't a strategy, play, playcalling, or game plan that's ever been created to " adjust " to the O-line not blocking..

.

Which again begs the question why was Barber running off tackle so much?

I'm just not convinced that this total package, the Wade/Garrett hybrid, is good enough to get us to the Super Bowl. I believe that Jerry should head in a different direction, but it isn't going to happen, so we just all need to look toward the draft and see where we go from here.

Great point. I really could not have put it better myself.

Actually, if you understood the post, it is very much an indictment against him. That is the sign of a play caller that has plenty of talent at his disposal, but can't finish. Second in yardage but mediocre in scoring? It can't be any more obvious.

We were a Top 5 offense in yards BEFORE Garrett even got here. What exactly has he done to deserve praise or defense for these pathetic efforts?

I was actually AGREEING that it IS an indictment against him.

He hangs a $45mm anchor around the OC's neck.

Free Felix!
Pretty sure Jerry was the one "nudging" him earlier in the season to play Felix more.

Today's game was a horribly called by Garrett. When you lose the starting left tackle, quick slants and other HOT routes are a must. Quick passes are essential to any team on the road!

Even if Romo audibled to that, why is that even an audible play?

Because you sub Barber with Felix, and Felix makes that DE ( Edwards ) miss in the open field ( like he did against a safety on an earlier play ) and he's off the races

There wasn't anything wrong with the play. Romo should have realized who was in the backfield and NOT killed the orginal called play, which was probably a dive.

Doesn't really matter. That play sucked and is a result of a failure somewhere between Red and Romo. I'll blame Red.

Of course.. It's the easiest thing to do.

Why does Garrett insist on playing Barber when Jones and Choice are more productive? Especially when they get enough carries to get into a rythym.

Seems like a huge shortcoming of the OC, especially if Jerry has accepted he made a mistake with Barber's deal and nudged Garrett to play Felix more.

I have no idea. Wade even said early on that they needed to get Felix in there more. I'm not sure if Garrett has that much autonomy or what, but it's beyond stupid if you ask me.

Okay, here's my final word on this.

If there's nothing Jason Garrett could do about our O-line sucking balls, then maybe we should hire someone that can do something about it.

God is too busy doing something else.

Really I saw Felix lighting them up in the second half before we stalled when JG called a wide TOSS Sweep 7 yds deep to BARBER. That's what I'm talking about!

Whoever is responsible for this, Garrett or whomever it might be, I agree completely. The insistence on playing Barber is just plain idiotic. Barber bogs the offense down. Jones is the main guy, Choice should be the guy who spells him, and as far as I'm concerned, Barber can be traded.
