The GM, if he had the slightest clue as to what he's doing, should have recognized that and either done whatever it took to keep Parcells around or brought in another established head coach with the same authority.

Instead he brought his case of puppets back out.

No doubt. They were cracking jokes on parcells at wades intro pc.

Parcells said it would be like he was never there in the summer of 07, and it only took one year to make that true.

I still can't believe Jerry, Stephen and wade repeatedly joked and complained about parcells. Funny stuff.
The three of them couldn't have won with the 85 bears roster.

and, my personal favorite..... "the team hasnt quit on him yet"

that is the new coaching criteria for the dallas cowboys

Putting out effort and not quitting has become the most fans can hope for. Execution on the field and winning do not mean that much with this team. The mighty have fallen.

They folded pretty regularly in the 4th quarter.

To be fair, Quincy carter did not know how to throw a spiral, chad Hutchinson was horrendous as we're Anthony wright, Randall Cunningham and Clint stoerner.

Hard to function as a team when you can't throw a forward pass, which was literally the situation. Go back and watch that season opener against Tampa in 01. It was like we had no qb at all.

I will be shocked, and pleasantly surprised, that when Romo leaves if the QB situation does not look like the post Aikman years. I don't think it will be as bad as hutch, carter and Henson but I think there will be a multi year gap before we find the next guy. And I think we will not find that guy on our first try (ie draft the wrong guy). I think this is where you will see the multi 5-6 wins seasons during this time.

If you think the frustration and apathy is bad know, I think it will get much worse during this time period.

That would be totally on Jerry and he should be called on it. The NFL is a QB league anymore. There are plenty of good QBs coming out.

With just mediocre QB play, we win that game easily.

I don't think that anyone could argue that Dave Campo couldn't have gotten us 8-8 records with this talent.
Thats sad

Dave Campo won only 3 fewer games than Garrett each of his 3 seasons on teams that were far less talented than the team Garrett inherited. Garrett inherited a team that won 11 games and a playoff game a year prior to him taking over. Dave Campo didn't inherit a Tony Romo, Demarcus Ware, Jason Witten, Sean Lee and a Dez Bryant. Campo started off behind the 8 ball in 2000 with a declining team and an aging Troy Aikman who only had one season left. Campo was also left with no #1 draft picks the next 2 years because of the Joey Galloway deal.

Does anyone honestly believe Garrett could even win 8 games with Anthony Wright, Quincy Carter, Chad Huchinson and Clint Stoerner at QB? I rank Garrett behind Campo due to the talent he inherited compared to the lack of talent Campo was stuck with and because the Cowboys won a championship while Campo was the Cowboys DC. Campo was far more qualified to be an NFL HC than Garrett. Campo started his coaching career in 1971 and had 29 years of coaching experience before taking over as the Cowboys HC in 2000.

The Campo years ....ugh....thought ten years would have buried those memories...shows that we really haven't improved as an organization if his era is still being brought up as a comparison.

tough competition but put them in a cage match and i think that campo wins (poodle is such an apt description)

unless garrett can scare hm with his crazy look (when his eyes get bigger right in the middle of a sentence) or can bore him to death with his talk about process, stacking, and looking at film to just get better

you will be cursing garrett for a long long time for ruining the careers of romo, witten, and ware

Give Campo Romo and Garrett Leaf, Stoerner, Wright, Hutchinson, QC and Campo goes 8-8 while Garrett is lucky to go 5-11. Can you imagine some of those QB's Campo had airing it out 45-50 times a game under Garrett? Yikes.

Even with all the injuries piling up (especially on defense), and losing your starting QB before the last game? Hmmm. Don't think so. But seriously, nice try.

You really don't think Campo's teams could win more than 5 games with Romo? Or that this team would be worse with the QB's Campo dealt with?

Granted this team does have more talent on it than Campo's at other positions than just QB. But Campo was terrible and I have no doubt that switching QB's would get similar results from each. And no doubt if Campo coached this team we would still go 8-8 and if Garrett coached the teams from '00-'02 they go 5-11 or worse.

I honestly think that if Campo were provided with everything that Garrett has been, from day 1, our record would be comparable.

I'm just not sure how Garrett gives any advantage. Honestly, what does he do for this team that is unique/special/beneficial???
