So you liked our CBs playing 10 yards off and then being taught to react to the WR and not the ball. I think Campo is one of the worst coaches we ever had.

Very decent DC.

Poor HC.

Jerrah was just cruising and got to rebuild with Campo.

Same thing right now with Jason..

Oh..

is that what you trying to say?

Dave Campo won only 3 fewer games than Garrett each of his 3 seasons on teams that were far less talented than the team Garrett inherited. Garrett inherited a team that won 11 games and a playoff game a year prior to him taking over. Dave Campo didn't inherit a Tony Romo, Demarcus Ware, Jason Witten, Sean Lee and a Dez Bryant. Campo started off behind the 8 ball in 2000 with a declining team and an aging Troy Aikman who only had one season left. Campo was also left with no #1 draft picks the next 2 years because of the Joey Galloway deal.

Does anyone honestly believe Garrett could even win 8 games with Anthony Wright, Quincy Carter, Chad Huchinson and Clint Stoerner at QB? I rank Garrett behind Campo due to the talent he inherited compared to the lack of talent Campo was stuck with and because the Cowboys won a championship while Campo was the Cowboys DC. Campo was far more qualified to be an NFL HC than Garrett. Campo started his coaching career in 1971 and had 29 years of coaching experience before taking over as the Cowboys HC in 2000.

You just choked and murdered every Garrett fanboy. Jeez

That really was frustrating (Soft Coverage 10 yards off, etc. DBs not playing ball) but didn't see any talented corners showing this trait. Deion/K.Smith pressed all the time.

Looking at this team offensively its very clear the 2013 version is much better, which is evident in the rankings as well. Objectively, the only position that may be close is the Ol with Adams, Gurode, and Allen vs Smith, Frederick, Free. I love Emmitt Smith, but he was at the tail end of his career and wasnt a 3rd down player like Murray is. Whats telling to me is the 02 defense vs the 13 defense. Personally Iooking at the 02 team is puzzling how they were so much better. The Cbs have to be the worst group in team history, Ngyuen and Woodson were injured and depth wasnt great among the front 7. To me Glover, Ellis, Ekuban vs Ware, Hatcher, Selvie is a push. The only difference is the corners are much better in 13, but safety play was better on the 02 team. Either we have the worst defensive staff in the Nfl, or safety play alone can turn a horrid defense into a decent one.

Yet the defense was still respectable ranking 13th for points and 18th for yards allowed. And we had terrible corners.

Definitely speaking more to Campo's propensity to adapt to the talent given to him. Good point.

Its really hard comparing the 02 defense and 13 defense and be able to say one is better than the other talent wise. Maybe they overachieved but that defense was respectable for all 3 years. I know its a different game today, but if we got that kind of production this year we easily would have been 11-5. Top players on that defense were Glover, Ellis, Coakley, Williams, Ngyuen, and Woodson. The later two missed a lot of games that season.

Oh I'm sorry I misread your post bro. I thought you were speaking of our ranking 13/18th was during the Campo years (Mario Edwards/Newman(turnstile of CBs before him). My b.

I'll take 24 wins over 15 in a 3 year span. It's not because I'm in favor in mediocrity, but between these two win totals, I'll take the one with more wins every time.

Comparing teams from different coaching tenures makes no sense. Things change from season to season and if records are a clear indication of what you are, like what some post on here, then 8-8 is an average team and a 5-11 is a bad team.

You are either a playoff team or you are not....................the difference between 5 wins or 8 wins...............really means jack at the end of the day.

The bottom line is Dave Campo and Jason Garrett are the only 2 head coaches in the history of this franchise to never take their team to the playoffs...........everybody else did, except these two guys............that is fact, nothing to debate.

Now as to which guy sucked the most..............I think any rational person would agree that Garrett has had more talent on the roster to work with than what Campo had.

The guy with the worst record sux more. Nothing else matters. I'll take the one that had the most wins any day of the week.

I won't stand here and say who got more out of their talent. When we brought back Campo as our secondary coach, it was one of our areas of weakness when we had two first round CB's to work with. He couldn't even get our secondary to play to their full potential.

Neither succeeded in what they tried to accomplish after their first 3 seasons. Between the two, JG is closer to having this team in the playoffs than Campo was. I still recall those Campo days when I was already looking at the draft in October and November.
