Jason Garrett

Sure. They all aren't Romo. Picking the best players you can is the goal of any draft.

Actually the goal of the draft is to generally get balance across your offense and defense and put resources on your defense.

There was a point in time when we had first-round players at nearly every position on offense (and yes I'm going to count La'El Collins, because being gifted him should have meant even more resources on defense).

HB - Ezekiel Elliott
LT - Tyron Smith
RG - Zack Martin
C - Travis Frederick
RT - La'el Collins (for free)
WR - Dez Bryant

Hell, they spent a 2nd round draft pick on Gavin Escobar when Witten was our starting tight end. And this is after they couldn't get anything out of Martellus Bennett (who went on to win a super bowl ring)

Jason was absolute garbage as an OC and HC. He had one good stretch of OC and that was first 11-12 games of 2007. He was figured out and never recovered. And we made that loser our HC for a decade and he accomplished nothing. What in the world are you babbling about? He didn't even last 2 years after being demoted. He's junk. Good riddance to that self righteous, pompous loser.

Hes obviously not going to get a HC interview the off-season after being fired from an OC gig. That’s not realistic. If he’s still looking to work, it’s either as a college HC with a mid-tier program or as an OC for a young new defensive coach once the pro jobs start filling.

That said, that Giants offense didn’t score more than 10 points in 6 of the 7 games they played since he was fired. He wasn’t the issue in NY, just like he wasn’t the issue in Dallas. NY’s issue is both talent—especially at QB—and they have a guy who’s in over his head at HC who’s losing his team. They’re a mess.
yeah JG did better with their offense than whoever took over after he was fired.
Their problem is a they hired a moron for HC, it is that simple. also whoever hired that moron is also a moron lol so get rid of those 2 morons,
and they could be on the upswing .

but if they keep judgy they will be crap next season too, and probably pick poorly in the draft.

I also wonder if barkley is the same guy he was before he got hurt? either they dont know how to use him or run the ball . Or he isnt the same, could be both.

What made JG likable and good also bit him on the arse...its the fact he went 2 Princeton. He thought he was the smartest guy in the room...and MAYBE he was..but that doesn't mean SMART is "football smart" Those are 2 totally different things. He over thought too many things and the messaging over time was lost, confusing, and lost its luster. Then he lost any cred he had with it.
I’ll say it again. Biggest issue with JG was poor leadership. By being buddies with Romo and Witten he created a divided locker room. I’m sure the defense did hate him. As the hc, you can’t be buddies with a few of the players and let them influence decisions. I don’t see McCarthy going to Mavericks games with dak and zeke. It’s outright dumb when u think about it

Garrett was too soft to be a successful HC in the NFL. He may not have been the problem in NY but he wasn't the solution, either.

I'll take that bet. He was a master politician though. Wade Phillips probably still suffering from inhaling all those diesel fumes.

Not realistic? For a bad coach it isn't. You mean his resume in Dallas of being good doesn't count for anything? Lol keep making excuses. It'll be 2025 before you finally admit Garrett is a lover who will never be a hc again

I read a rumor that Payton and Eli were considering buying an NFL team, they have the money. It would be crazy if they bought the Giants.
Heard rumors about the Broncos. They cant compete with Bezos if he really wants the team though.

I'm sorry but you were one of the most infamous Garrett defenders on the page. Maybe his biggest defender to the point where it was basically a meme.

Dont be sorry. I was most-definitely one of his biggest defenders. I didn’t support everything he did, but I made a point of tackling almost every irrational criticism I came across because so many of them were childish and silly. Like the thread you linked to criticizing him for Moore’s success when he made a good hire in what was an unpopular move when he first put Moore on the coaching staff.

But you took the time to at least cite some threads, which I appreciate. So, given hindsight, what we’re your issues with the arguments in either of those threads? I’ll play along.

I think you’re right. Gettleman and Judge were both whiffs.

It’s a shame what happened to Barkley. Good guy and he was a really good young player.

LOL even Duke didn't want him.

Probably. Or he wasn’t interested and it wasn’t public. Or neither were interested in the other. It’s not reasonable for every candidate to be a candidate for every job.

Barkley looked poised to be the next great young runningback. He was Jonathan Taylor before Jonathan Taylor. Just proves which team you go to matters.
