True, with the exception of the Denver game last year.

That game just snowballed into a hopeless situation. I think the altitude impacted the team more than was let on. It's just something that happens to every team now and then.

LOL.....scheduling practices? Setting rosters? talking to the media? Throwing the red flag, calling timeouts.

No, those are the EXACT type of things he does. Not much to do with football. The two things he DOES do there that has something to do witih gameday managment...........red flag throwing and timeouts he is absolutely horrid at.

You conveniently forgot I also mentioined dictating schemes, and EVERYTHING a head coach does. Discussing and approving game plans, working with coordinators on the use of players etc .... Linnehan is a passing guy - Garrett wants a strong running game.

And what you apparently don't understand, is the head coach, to a large degree, is a manager. You said it yourself - the CEO isn't training the salesmen. Like a CEO, a lot of what a head coach does is put a system and people in place to, organize and set things in motion so all the others can do their jobs. Many, and maybe most head coaches are not coordinators, or specifically coaching one unit, including many of the best coaches in history. Jimmy didn't. Bellichick doesn't.

IN playoff games and win or go home games the team comes out flat and we typically fall behind. And the clock management and decision making is horrid. Teams are unprepared and outcoached EVERY time. Same mistakes are repeated over and over again. Garrett is garbage.

The sad thing is it doesn’t matter at all if they’re home or away! Still a scenario that ends in the usual Garrett disappointment!

Such a bizarre game. Not just losing, but getting wrecked up there.

I have a feeling a lot of Raider home games are going to play out that way next season. Saturday night in Vegas is quite a home field advantage.

We get to see what Garrett and the staff is like behind closed doors in 17 more days. I'll see if I can come up with any strengths after watching All or Nothing.

I have a homework assignment for you. Go watch Seasons 1 & 2, and give me the strengths of Bruce Arians and Jeff Fisher as coaches.

Already have watched them along with the Florida State season.

I hated Bruce Arians but had respect for him after watching the Cardinals series a couple years ago. He loves to coach up his players and has high expectations of his players to execute and eliminate their mistakes. One of the cool things about that season was David Johnson. The Cardinals were really disappointed they couldn't get Abdullah, later selecing Johnson, then watching his transformation. It was also interesting watch Sweeney come in and help the team.

As for Jeff, he just seemed very uninspiring. They were dealing with the move from St. Louis to LA and it seemed as though the years in the NFL have worn him down. His announcement to the team that he was no longer their coach was of a defeated man. That said, the team did start out 3-1 and to Jeff's credit, in the meeting with his coaches, he told them the team wasn't playing like a 3-1 team and if they didn't improve they were in trouble. He turned out to be correct there.

As a Florida State fan, I wasn't a fan of Jimbo Fisher's until watching their season. I really like how he dealt with the Seminoles poor season to include having to start a freshman QB and getting embarrassed by Louisville. I had a new respect for him that I never had before, to include him winning a National Championship. I used to refer to him as Dumbo Fisher until watching that season.

Maybe I'll see something in Garrett in this series to make me change the way I feel about him, like I changed my mind on Arians and Jimbo. 17 days and I'll find out.

He’s intelligent, organized, consistent, and able to dampen the circus atmosphere Jerry insists on cultivating. He develops players well. He keeps the team focused, and they play hard.

Most of what he does poorly is massively exaggerated by upset fans. They hated his play calling, though his offenses were generally in the top ten in the league in terms of production/series. They are his press conferences, though fail to understand he does it for a very good reason. They hate his clapping...never understood why that was such an issue. Really, what they’re unhappy about is the team not going on a playoff run, and when they don’t like that result, the easiest person to blame is the coach. Personally, I don’t think he’s miss d the playoffs with a playoff caliber team until last season.

One playoff win.................8 years on the job...............that is bad, really bad in today's watered down NFL.

How bad is it? Only one other coach is still in the league with a comparable tract record like this, Marvin Lewis. Besides Garrett and Lewis, every other head coach that has been with their team 8 or more years has made it to the SB, everybody else got fired.

Yes you read the title correctly. I am sincerely trying to see the positives of JG as our head coach. What competitive advantage do you feel he brings to the organization?
He claps better than most. As a matter of fact, I believe he is on a course for 1st ballot induction into the Clappers Hall of Fame.

Self-Preservation. He sold out both Rob Ryan and Monte Kiffin...two legends of the sport to save his own neck.

Jeff Fischer was a legend and tough-nosed SOB in Buddy Ryan's defense with the heart and the code of the warrior. How could he be uninspiring?

You say that in each of these threads. Then I say you have to look at how many of those teams were actually playoff teams, and then you say they all were, and then I say they really weren't and we went through a legitimate rebuild starting in 2010 and that we've actually been competitive since 2014, then you say but we've only one one playoff game in that time and then I say that the playoff games we lost weren't because of coaching, and then you say you think they were, and then I say 'agree to disagree.'

Garrett's teams generally play a hard, physical brand of football.

Not well prepared, but it does compete.

Of course- Byron Jones arrival has swayed the physicality meter back from relatively fierce to slightly above league average unfortunately.

Our team outside of Doug Free[LOL] has been pretty disciplined..so he's good at that..we don't really have any stupid penalties.
They like to play for him.I don't care what job you work for or how much they pay you, if you don't like your boss, even with immediate success, after a while it will start to show.

Hey buddy, whats up.................yes, we clearly disagree on Garrett.

My point is that after 8 years on the job, the "not enough talent" excuse goes out the window. If the team has not been playoff caliber for more than 1 or 2 of the years Garrett has been here, is that not on him as well? Isnt he suppose to make the roster playoff caliber?

As I have alluded to, no other team puts up with this much futility other than Cincinnati. For crying out loud, the Tennessee Titans WON A PLAYOFF GAME and then fired their head coach for getting routed by the Pats. So don't tell me that keeping coaches that constantly lose is what happens in the NFL, because it isn't. Garrett is an anomaly in the NFL, very few head coaches can accomplish as little as he has accomplished in his coaching career and still have a job.
