The Mavs are toast. Molded toast.

I predict next yr they have an entirely new look, including HC. The little general is getting serious heat from his owner to the media, to the fans, to former players.

And they are, what, the second oldest club in the league? Not good.

I look forward to the beatdown Boston gets in the post season or Finals if they get that far. They have yet to face a Western Conference Team in post season mode.

oh please. I was skeptical about Boston at first too. But they are definitely legit and can beat ANY western conference team.

And they have yet to face a Western team in post season mode? huh? the last month, West teams have been playing in post season mode.

And if Boston hasn't faced a Western team in post season mode then neither have any Western Conference teams.

Reportedly Josh's back is still recovering, which is why he's reluctant to take it to the basket and puts up jumpers.

But yeah, I agree with everything else. This Mavs team is not athletic enough for Kidd to go crazy with dishes in the paint, or the offensive schemes keep the players on the perimeter. Either way, they need to open it up more (or push themselves more) if they're going to take advantage of his talents.

yeah. I'll cut Josh some slack about his back, but this could have been a great time to develop his passing skills. Unfortunately, after 5 years in the league, he still doesn't know how to pass. And the best part about it is that Avery designed the last play so Josh, our worst passer, would inbound the ball. It's no surprise the pass looked like it did.

Technically they are the third oldest after San Antonio and Phoenix (barely, by .2 years) but point taken.

That's what happens when you trade three 24-25 year old players for players aged 34 (soon to be 35), 29, and 24.

If they make it. Detroit can play with Boston, and last night proved again that LeBron can take out Detroit single-handedly when he is on.

Of course, based on current seeding Cleveland would go on to play Boston in the second round (unless they make a serious run and make up a 5 1/2 game deficit to the Magic for the #3 seed). Right now I see Boston taking that one and then beating Detroit in the ECF in seven games.

Wow that response was obviously ill-informed. What makes you think that you can respond by telling me that you are no longer skeptical so that means I shouldn't be?

The post season hasn't even started yet. Apparently you do not realize how teams ramp it up when the post season starts. You think that everyone is in post season mode now? Hardly. I've seen teams like the Spurs rest their players towards the end and Ive seen other teams do the same. The only teams in your supposed "post season" mode are teams like Denver vying for a seed.

The Celtics team this year has not played ANY Western Conference teams yet in the playoffs! Therefore, it will be a different situation altogether. Number one, I already mentioned about Western Conference intensity. Number two, playing a series is totally different than the regular season.

Apparently, you don't know how to make a logical argument.

so what makes you think Boston isn't well equipped to beat a WC team? What are your reasons?

Right now, your only reason is that Boston hasn't played a WC team in post season mode. Guess what, no one has played anybody in "post season mode" by your argument.

Well, what are your reasons that make WC teams that much better than Boston?

First of all, I stated my opinion about Boston. I could care less if it got you in a huff. Everything I said was quite logical.

ONE MORE TIME......T-h-i-s- i-s m-y o-p-i-n-i-o-n!!:bang2:

I do not think Boston can beat the top Western Conference teams in the playoffs. Obviously this would only mean the Finals. What is so dang hard to understand about that?

Now, since I made the comment that the post season has not started yet, one could assume that since I originated that comment, that same person (me here) would believe it as well.

Although Boston has a great record this year, playing a series is entirely different. Also playing the Western Conference will not be the same.

Yes, it is your opinion. But usually, there has to be some reasons for why you formed that opinion.

I just want to know what your reasons are. So far, you haven't given any.

I haven't given any reasons? The Celtics have yet to prove themselves in the playoffs regardless of the regular season and it is in my fallible opinion that they will not have the same type of success against the Western Conference in the post season. I posted an opinion as an opinion. Therefore since it is not a fact, I do not have to give you a reason that is acceptable to you.

Can we move on from this now?

Tough loss for the Mavs. I only watched the end, but Kidd really does look worthless out there.

This is a forum for discussion. I'd like to discuss why you think the Celtics would get "beat down" by a WC team. Is it KG's lack of post season success? Rajon Rando's youth? Doc Rivers is still the coach?

Those are all some sort of reasons. Unfortunately, you didn't mention any reasons at all. It defeats the purpose to just post an opinion and not back it up.

There's basically stuck with two guys at the end of games (Damp and Kidd) that most teams don't need to defend. Not good.

Earth to Major Tom! I don't think they have what it takes!

"So Rowdy, who do you pick to win or not win the Finals?"

"Well thanks for asking! Id say the Celtics have a chance but they will have to play better than they are currently."

"So Rowdy, how can you say that?"

"Well, it will be a huge test for a team that is new and hasn't played together in the post season. I think any Western Conference team in the top four maybe five can take the Celtics in a series." "I dont have to tell the listeners the huge change in what the post season brings to well-seasoned teams."

"No you dont Rowdy."

"Do you think KG's lack of playoff experience is their downfall?"

"No. Not at all. I just doubt that team until they show they can produce in both a series and the post season overall."

"Thanks Rowdy for your time."

Is that easier to understand for ya?

Is any of this Avery's fault? I haven't followed them as close as you guys and was wondering what is the missing link here with the Mavs? They have gotten so close to winning 1-2 Championships so far in the past 3-4 years apprx.

They go to an iso offense at the end of games, without fail. I'm not sure who's fault that is. You can say it's Avery, but he only has the players on the team to work with. And they have no one that can really take it to the basket -and- finish. So at the end of games the opponent's D tightens up, it goes to a halfcourt game, so the Mavs launch jumpers. And missing those shots gives the opponent a running start down the court, which hurts the Mavs' defense.
