The jury is still out on a lot of guys.. i have no clue why this defense is getting so much hype
Keeping Gronk to that from a rookie is damned good. With Jones learning from Witten and learning how to cover an amazing player this can only help them both

You have some on this board ready to move on from Witten. If he's done like some seem to think he is Byron Jones may not be the answer at safety.

One has to wonder about Jones a little. He has all the measureables, character, and smarts, but does he have the instincts. If are the FS and dont have a feel back there with instincts the rest wont matter. He doesnt seem like a ball hawk kinda guy to me. That is what you need back there. It seems more like they drafted this guy based on measuarbles and were hoping to mold him into a safety. How many years experience does he have playing the position? 1 year in college?

I've seen Witten beat Ed Reed so the jury is still out on Reed not sure if he's really a HOF lock.

Good god this was just a great play by Witten why does it have to be Byron bashing?

Don't know how long he's played position but most of the talk surrounding him entering the draft was about his world record long jump. Heard more about his workouts and long jump than him as a football player.

There is getting beat and then there is getting beat. When slow as molasses Witten is a mile away from you on a simple dang cut, it's a problem. It's not that he got beat, it happens, it's HOW he got beat.

THAT is the Byron bashing. That and his zero ball awareness.

lol you can't win with some of you.

Some are acting like Jones had a great game because Gronk didn't put up three TDs on him. It was one of Jones' better performances last season which shows he has a long way to go. What we saw Witten do that him on that video we saw lesser players do to him last season.

That is exactly why I didnt like the pick at the time. I want football players, not workout warriors.

Jones is still trying to hit home runs. Looking for that next troubled player that turns out to be Charles Haley. Or that workout warrior that molds into the next Darren Woodson.

Im not being negative towards Jones I just want to see him do something fist. Make some plays, stick out, be a difference maker.

Sounds like you just don't like Byron for some reason he's played very well thus far

The silver lining is Jones is learning how to cover from one of the best.

Everyone gets burned from time to time. And Byron does play with a lot of fire. With that said I'm glad he's moving to safety.

Btw I'm one of those guys that believes it's time to move on from Witten. But I will take a back seat for now :)

I watched the game and the jury is still out on Jones.
Fair. I wont say the jury isn't out, but not based on that game. He played his role very well that game. I'd say the jury is still out because he only played one season and played all over the place.
