There is no doubt it would be bad, yes.

The other question is: Who would he even bring in to coach with him?

The Witten hire depends on his staff. If you can get a good OC and DC ans just let Witten keep the team in line and set the culture than it could work.

This would be the worst possible hire possible....that is why Booger will entertain it. He probably equates seeing all the Cowboy zombies filing into AT&T in their Witten jerseys as a voice of approval....when in fact, they are without doubt the lowest common denominator Cowboy fans going. I noticed a comment at the bottom of this attached article that I had TOTALLY forgotten....Boogers proposed "leader of men" Jason Witten....while a Cowboy, and teammate...refused to take any of the other TE's on the squad under his wing. Let that sink in...that is pathetic behavior. And please don't forget Cabo 2008.

I think K. Moore might be the worst possible hire
I think you're right. At least Witten has some potential as a leader of men. Moore is a solid offensive mind with no personality whatsoever. I just don't understand the allure of bringing him back in a leadership role. It makes no sense.

Zero experience, and straight to NFL Head Coach....1 of 32....can you just imagine the nightmarish backlash from the talking heads on ESPN in regard to the Rooney Rule....OMG.

Jason would be 4-5 years away from an NFL HC.

Logically, he would start out as a TE coach, perhaps then receiving or passing coach, then OC for a few seasons assuming success at each step along the way.

For every future HC candidate that succeeds, there are at least a dozen that falters somewhere along the way.

At least Witten would bring some kind of toughness / culture to this organization

Moore is a total wimp / yes man. And we know he sucks schematically. So he offers nothing. Witten is just a total unknown. Probably would be bad but at least there is no evidence of it.
As you said, we have no evidence that Witten will be any different as a HC/leader than your description of Moore. Yes he was a great player that displayed physical toughness as an individual. That does not automatically translate to him being able to bring that out of a group of pro players as a leader where it permeates an entire team/organization. This is a total shot in the dark, particularly for a guy who only has experience coaching a bunch of 16-17 year olds...

Any coach with zero resume would be a terrible hire. I don't know what happened to working your way up the ladder? but Jerry seems to think he has a leg up on every other team. If this is the direction, it would truly be ridiculous.
It's utterly laughable this is even a discussion man. Only in Jerry World....

That backlash would definitely be justified.

Never loved him as a player I also heard he was a rat to JJ.
Really? You "heard" that? From whom? Source? Got video of that?

I'd have to see/hear a lot more proof of that before I'd put any credence in it.

Witten was a super successful tight end, HOF player, who I'm sure had many chances to go to another team for more money but stayed at Dallas. No reason at all for him to "rat" to JJ.

What other team in the NFL would even give Witten an interview outside of Dallas. They'd hang up if he called inquiring about a head coaching job. Yet some wonder why we 've sucked for so long
