Jason Witten would be the worst possible hire

This would be the worst possible hire possible....that is why Booger will entertain it. He probably equates seeing all the Cowboy zombies filing into AT&T in their Witten jerseys as a voice of approval....when in fact, they are without doubt the lowest common denominator Cowboy fans going. I noticed a comment at the bottom of this attached article that I had TOTALLY forgotten....Boogers proposed "leader of men" Jason Witten....while a Cowboy, and teammate...refused to take any of the other TE's on the squad under his wing. Let that sink in...that is pathetic behavior. And please don't forget Cabo 2008.

Buckle up Peggy!
Whoever Booger hires is going to be the worst possible hire

His idea of a contract assures that Incentive based contracts for coaches is outright moronic.

Injuries can tank their season.
Bad draft can kill a season.
Not being all in in free agency hurts everybody
Not to mention a player having a down year....

And if you are the coach at the mercy of those getting you what they want you are in sword fight wielding a rubber blade.

First time head coaches need to go somewhere there is no expectation, no pressure to win immediately. This circus ain't that place

It astounds me that the author of that article managed to spend so much time and effort making the case for such a ridiculous possibility.

I agree it would he a godawful move and, honestly I can’t imagine a world where it happens. I think the players would not take him even a little bit seriously.

Only this year was that the case and everyone on this board was totally on board with McCarthy being in a lame duck prove it year.

To now cry about how they didn’t extend him for years before the start of this season reeks of revisionist history, Maybe you were the one person here who wanted to lock McCarthy up for five years going into 2024, but I seriously doubt it.

This is one of the cushiest head coaching jobs in the league. Only the Rooneys are more patient than Jerry.

The reasoning of thinking that because one NFC team is having success as a former TE in the NFL, can translate to us having a great coach as a former player is the wrong idea!! I say let Jason come in as another position coach and work himself up
Yep. Jerry has forever followed the flavor of the week. We’ve seen how that works.

At least Witten would bring some kind of toughness / culture to this organization

Moore is a total wimp / yes man. And we know he sucks schematically. So he offers nothing. Witten is just a total unknown. Probably would be bad but at least there is no evidence of it.
I should be the coach. It would probably be bad but there's no evidence of it.

a Witten hire would NOT be the worse possible hire but I certainly would have major doubts about it. But if we wanna go full on Thelma and Louise over the cliff, hire the uninspiring Ron Rivera as HC and bring back Zimmer lol...keep shotty as the OC lmao... THEN you would have THE WORST POSSIBLE HIRE.

Oh, what the hell, bring Witten in as head coach. We're not going anywhere with Dak as our QB anyway. They can both be fired when Dak's contract is up.

Let us join together, "Gruden! Gruden! Gruden! "
I agree with THIS^. Folks look at him as they will but I see a HUGE opportunity to fix the franchise. Gruden will be looking to prove his wares in a big way after the way he was set up and treated by the league. Yes I know, he made mistakes...the emails etc...I have my opinion on that but digress. Lets look at what he brings on the field and in the clubhouse. RESPECT, ACCOUNTABILITY AND HES A WINNER. He demands it. Also, can you imagine the marketing Jerry and he can do with the whole Chucky thing?!! Can't wait to see the Chucky dolls in the stands at ATT&T. Even for a short time, if we wanna turn things around in a split second, hire the guy. He won't mess around either. If he sees a guy laughing it up, loafing in practice, dude will put him on notice. No more camp cupcake. Here's something else, He runs a very similar scheme as MM and will be very Dak friendly. Dak would be happy and Gruden has been on record many times over the years saying he'd LOVE to coach Dak and loves him. This hire would have our fans excited I think. I don't view him as the run of the mill retread. Hes a unique dude all his own. I agree with you 1000%

A Witten hire has disaster written all over it.
No. But there will be a learning curve. We may not win much but he would instill toughness. Dan Campbell struggled too his first couple years. Year 3 he blossomed.

Let Jason continue molding young minds, with the kids.

Yep. Jerry has forever followed the flavor of the week. We’ve seen how that works.
Flavor of the week has been young first time HC offensive wunderkind for some years now. He hasn’t done that.

Hes hasn’t hired a “young” coach in 15 years.

I think K. Moore might be the worst possible hire

I definitely agree!!! Witten would be the second worst hire. But Kellen Moore would be the worst hire ever in Cowboys history.

I don't think Jerry is stupid enough to name witten head coach..... I think he knows he can milk it for 2 games and then disaster pursues. he wants Witten on the staff and was trying to force it onto MM.

If they hire Witten it would definitely be the worst move to make, and would set this franchise back even further, and Id want my name changed lol
