What are you smoking? Is there any indication Jaylon’s not already a top 5 LB?

Name your top five.

...and if I’m not mistaken, he’s never missed a game...

Why do you promote Zeke and hate on Jaylon? I don’t get it at all..

Calm down. You missed my point. What I'm saying is he's had one good year in comparison to Dak and Zeke who have done this for 3 years. So yeah its easier to sign Jaylon to a deal like this because top 5 money is a good pay day for someone who's had only one good season. Zeke and Dak's situations are nothing like Jaylon.

He's not lost. He may be going down the wrong path, but he's not lost.

When you go down the wrong path it’s usually because you’re lost :) but we’re just parsing words now.

I think we can both agree that being a RB or LB or QB with the Dallas Cowboys opens doors that are closed for players on other teams. Jaylon understands that. Zeke doesn’t - and it seems Dak doesn’t either.

Or maybe it’s their agents. Dak made a comment this past weekend that he lets his agent handle things 100%.

except Zeke isn't the best RB. His agent is giving him bad advice. He'd be well taken care of already if he wasn't such a dumazz.
His stats say he's the best back and him and his agent don't care what others say. People want to use stats when its beneficial to them. When a debate or argument about who's the best stats get brought up. When you want to prove a point against what stats say then you use the "eye test". Zeke has every right to feel he's better than Gurley and Leveon Bell.

And I'd be careful in calling him dumb. We have no idea what the contract was and only a fool would believe that Jerry and Stephen actually came to the table with a deal that would favor Zeke.

Nation, as soon as he was full strength, was a beast, and he was a beast in college, so who cares if it was one year. As soon as healthy, bam, he did exactly what they thought he would. Dan, had not had 3 good years. 1 very good year, one crap year, and 1 avg year. Crazy, jayl9ng might have just got a better deal than zeke.

congrats to Jaylon,i thought he was a wasted pick for 2 years and i have been proved very wrong.

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy. Good for him and good for the Cowboys. Plus he only 24 and if he continues to stay healthy he is going to get another deal too

Jaylon Smith = Nothing but class

It's funny. We, as fans, take this stuff so personally and we don't have much concept of dealing with such conflagrations because we've not had the chance to do so in our lives.
Me? I'm just not going to stress it, or take this stuff like he's stealing from me and mine.
Zeke is not trying to hurt us, as fans. He's trying to protect his interests, as he should.
Now... he may be going about it in the wrong way, but he has a plan and he's executing it.

If he's successful? Good for him. If he's not?
Ridicule the Hell out of him.

I said 3 good years. Are you arguing semantics here? Average or good. Whichever you want to call it he had 3 of them.

And you guys are in such defense mode you have no idea what I'm saying. No one is saying that Jaylon isn't worth his money. What I'm saying is Jaylon is nothing like Dak and Zeke. So to use that argument as he's "taking one for the team"? He got a favorable deal based on his resume. A deal the Cowboys loved to sign him to because they know his ceiling.

Naw not at all. Especially when you factor in someone inferior getting paid more than you. You want your worth.
This is true. Although none of us are purely altruistic. Greed does have a say in the game.

Except that is not how the market is set for young players. He is young and on an obvious upward trajectory. In the open market he would get top dollar.

He is making 30% less than the elite at his position.

lol 2018 points scored

Gurley 126
Zeke 54
92 Emmitt 114

Where in that equation is he the best? Plus he's an off the field headache and the Cowboys made a top tier offer. 9TDs is a replaceable number. He's a dumazz because his off the field issues will ultimately effect his bottom line and this holdout does him no favors. Smart from day one and things would be very different right now. One of the reasons Jaylon just signed while Zeke sits in Mexico.

I mean you should. He got paid like a top 5 linebacker. Zeke wants to be paid like the best back in the league and Dak wants top 5 money. Jaylon's is the most favorable but Jaylon's is also ridiculous when you factor how bad he was the first two years of his career.

He wasn't bad... his lateral movement was compromised. So that is where he had issues. He also had mental issues, as far as trusting his body again, like any athlete would.

He hesitated, and didn't commit to things he saw, by not trusting his own body I think. Once he trusted it again last season, we just saw the beginning of what he will do.

I am sure they believe, just like I do... that last year wasn't even close to his peak.

Well they signed him based on what they think he will do in the future. Just like any player you sign. This is a great deal for the COWBOYS. Dak at 30plus million might not be. 40 million? That's a joke.
