Jaylon Smith on Tyler Eifert

Are you pencillin Eifert in @Hawkeye0202? IDK, 43 games played in 6 years says he's injury prone to me. Could be the Sean Lee of TE's ;)

Oh, he most certainly is. But, like Sean Lee, when he does play, he's a Pro Bowl caliber talent. Injury is the only reason why you might possibly get a player this good. Otherwise, he's a Gronkowski or Kelce type of talent that his original team never lets get away.

The reason why I would be willing to roll the dice on his well-established injury history is that I have faith in Jarwin and Schultz continuing to develop behind him.

I'd be ok on the cheap, that way we're we wouldn't be paying much for bench time :)

It's difficult to evaluate the TE position when your offense doesn't know how to use the position. Now that boring and unimaginative Linehan is gone, we may find that we may already have an adequate TE in the pile of bodies that are currently on the roster.

I always find it interesting when a player publicly lobbies for another player not on the team.
It has to make Jarwin, Swaim, and Schultz feel real special.

They're big boys. And if they were as good at their jobs as the team needed, none of these conversations would be taking place. I'm OK with some guys egos being bruised or feelings being hurt if it makes the team better.

I doubt they care. They also likely know Smith and Eifert are friends back from their ND days.

That is a good point. Jarwin and the position seem to come to life when it was reported that Garrett and Kellen Moore started to have greater input in the offense.
