Jaylon Smith on Tyler Eifert

If he's cheap, why not?

I'd rather spend $3MM on this guy than some of the unskilled slop this franchise has wasted money on in FA in the past.

It's funny, they'll try to downplay $4 million totally wasted on a career nobody like Nolan Carroll, but when it comes to a player like Eifert who has actually done something in this league, it's "no thanks!"

"He fit our scheme, plus we added Awuzie and Lewis later so it was no big deal.............."

My favorite lame defense of the Nolan Carroll signing.

Has Eifert ever finished a 16 game season?

I feel like every time I’ve heard his name it’s talking about injury.

Injury prone or bad luck. Does it really matter? The guy makes Sean Lee look like a bionic man. He's managed to play a whopping total of 14 games over the past 3 seasons. Pass.

Yep.

Like somehow it was "the plan" to completely waste $4 million on a worthless scrub who hardly even played for you before being released.

It just goes to show you how far some fans will go in order to delude themselves and cover when the team makes a huge blunder.

But it's been going on forever, from Robert Brewster, to Phil Costa, to Gavin Escobar, to Montrae Holland, and on and on and on.

Some fans just can't handle it when the teams makes mistakes.

Are you pencillin Eifert in @Hawkeye0202? IDK, 43 games played in 6 years says he's injury prone to me. Could be the Sean Lee of TE's ;)

The only thing that makes me okay with Eifert is that I think Schultz and Jarwin really showed up when given the chance the latter part of last season. Accordingly, I think there is a good chance they can capably handle the TE position anyway, and Eifert would simply be a veteran addition to enhance the position further. In other words, if he got hurt again it wouldn't kill our chances to produce from TE.

:hammer:

Exactly my own feelings, and the only reason why I'd be OK with taking what is an obvious risk on Eifert.

Tyler Eiffert has literally missed more games than he’s played. I don’t understand why so many fans here think that’s going to change if we sign him. The second most important “ability” a player should have is “availability”. When you can’t stay healthy enough to play half of your games....no thanks.

Weren't those guys all draft picks? Pre McClay lol. There is a difference between screwing up in the draft and FA isn't there. Prolly not. A screw up is a screw up no matter how you screw it ;)

Most fans think Lee should be cut don't they. IDK, I'm ok on a cheapo rental. If the property ain't worth it we can always right it off as a tax loss lol

I'm not referring to the "when" or "where" of the screw-ups. But simply the pattern of fans feeling the need to blindly defend them. People immediately hated the Brewster pick, and that entire draft. But the SuperFriends told everybody they were "being rash", and that "the Cowboys know more than YOU do!" Same for when the Escobar pick was immediately bashed when it happened. We were told that "it takes time", up until the day that Escobar was gone. And then it switched to "why dwell in the past?" It's funny how those things work for some people...

I'm ok with Eiifert as long as it doesn't stand in the way of progress. Then again I have no idea what progress is for this team. Go for it!
