Tyler Eiffert has literally missed more games than he’s played. I don’t understand why so many fans here think that’s going to change if we sign him. The second most important “ability” a player should have is “availability”. When you can’t stay healthy enough to play half of your games....no thanks.

What about when he has played? He's been a Pro Bowl caliber player, and far better than anything else this team currently has. Sign him up and ride out whatever quality games you get from him. Have incentives in the contract to where he gets paid if he plays and doesn't if he doesn't. And if Eifert does get hurt again, you've still got the ascending Jarwin and Schultz.

I'm not referring to the "when" or "where" of the screw-ups. But simply the pattern of fans feeling the need to blindly defend them. People immediately hated the Brewster pick, and that entire draft. But the SuperFriends told everybody they were "being rash", and that "the Cowboys know more than YOU do!" Same for when the Escobar pick was immediately bashed when it happened. We were told that "it takes time", up until the day that Escobar was gone. And then it switched to "why dwell in the past?" It's funny how those things work for some people...

I used to be ok with not dwelling on the past then my memory goes back to Mo Claiborne

Multiple back surgeries, concussions, and a gruesome ankle injury most recently.

There's almost zero chance he can last the season.

I only know of one back surgery?

I'd split the difference on both. Cut Lee's pay in half and use that to pay Eifert. Between the two of them, you might get one quality season of play.

Stash, I'm playing devil's advocate on this one. I do that a lot. I'm great with whatever we do. I fit perfectly in the "they" crowd and have a ring in my nose lol. Seriously tho, I won't be upset if we do or don't on the Eifert risk. Not my coin

I don't understand rejecting the player outright because of his injury history. Seems to argue for an incentive laden deal. Small base plus significant bonuses based on playing time and production. Give him a chance to earn the big salary his talent justifies. But only if he can stay on the field and produce. Where's the downside?

That seems abundantly fair, and neutral.

As for me? I get passionate about things, in case you've never noticed!

That's my thinking. If and when he does get hurt, you still have Jarwin and Schultz on the roster. But if he doesn't? You just got yourself a Pro Bowl TE on the cheap, and a huge red zone threat that this team desperately needs. And most importantly and something a draft pick will never give you - an immediate contributor in 2019.

He’s Zack Martin’s brother in law if I remember correctly. At the right price I would absolutely take him.

And his college roommate. They're obviously very close, and I can't help but to think that it would be another selling point in the Cowboys favor.

Maybe if he is cheap. I would talk to Swaim about signing for another year. Give Jarwin and Shultz another year to develop.

I thought our TE's were coming on near seasons end. I understand the need to upgrade, but we need reliable upgrades...

Exactly my thinking as well. And because of his injury history, I imagine he would come in on a very friendly deal. I definitely think it is a risk worth taking! The biggest regrets in life are the risks you didn't take.

And who knows, maybe with his skillset he could be a good mentor for our young TEs.
