By medical reasonable probability, is it most likely of another injury to occur in the same knee? Once a ligament tears, then repaired and muscles and tissue around the knee are fully recovered as a result of the surgery, the entire anatomy around the knee is weaker before the original injury, correct?

As it is, we know he tore several ligaments in his knee. Is it publicly known which ligaments he tore?

Lateral movements playing the game of football is very extreme especially the linebacker position. Also, overcoming the mental aspect from the injury also takes the most time.

Investing in a player with a knee injury in football is a Huge risk especially in the NFL draft where an organization has the opportunity to select players to improve the team.

I really feel bad for Jaylon as a person and as a player in regards to what he is having to go through.

Marcus Lattimore wanted it as bad as anyone and worked incredibly hard and couldn't come back from this injury. I have my doubts about whether Smith will.

Yep, and knowing our luck, we'll get a taste of how awesome he can be in 2017, only for it all to be a tease once he tears it again....

This may sound weird, but I don't want him to rush it. Let it be right.

Jerry will rush him to justify this pick.He knows all the negativity right now behind this pick. He's an egomaniac. He rushed Romo back to try and salvage a season that was headed nowhere.

I know the guy is a great player when healthy but taking chances on injured players hasn't worked out for the Cowboys. This is one of the reasons they've drafted so poorly in the second round over the past decade. They take big gambles on injured players and TEs and they never pay off. No way are they going to rush this kid back or it may damage his chances of ever recovering to where he can return to playing at a high level. Who knows where Smith's game will be by 2017 he may never regain the form he had. I didn't like the pick we should have picked a healthy player who can help us this year.

Uhm... I'm generally shocked by the lack of knowledge about nerve damage in the media. This is not the 1980's... Assuming a competent surgeon and decent imaging facilities it is incredibly rare to not know whether there is permanent nerve damage. The team knows with very little doubt that the feeling will return. They probably even have a timeframe + or - a couple of months.

Guys, relax. If we didn't take Jaylon then we would have drafted a healthy tight end to sit on the bench next year. I'm used to us wasting our 2nd round picks.
