For what it is worth, he said he is getting his 4.4 speed back.
He said 4.5 before, hopefully this is progress and not semantics.
Lets hope this is not PR BS so fans would stop clamoring for FA additions.

in another article by Archer:
I saw Smith run late in the season as he went through drills with fellow rookie Charles Tapper. He went through pass-rush and change-of-direction drills, all while wearing the brace on his foot. Without the tape job, you wouldn’t know he could not lift his foot.

WE STILL NEED PREFERABLY 2 PREMIER FA DLs, preferably 1 DT and 1 DE.
Couple that with a Premier FA CB and we are in business.
This is pretty much the same rebuild as what the Giants did in 2016 in terms of player positions and cost.

3 premier FA's in todays NFL is far to expensive for the Cowboys. Our O-line has been the source of our recent spending, with much success I might add. But you can't have an overly expensive O-line and D-line. It's just not feasible

Excellent. Another Jaylon Smith thread. Lets speculate some more. There hasn't been enough of that in the other threads.

here is some more from Archer in a different article that may be more interest to everyone:

There are multiple salary cap threats that discusses how $30 million in space can easily be created. Actually $50 million can be created if desired.

Is he going to play next season? He is still wearing the brace.

For the love of God...he better be ready, we need a spark, hate to say it but he's our best shot at lighting a fire under this d's you know what.

Until he puts on the pads, starts practicing and looks good, I'm not going to get all worked up over him. With all the nerve firing threads and other topics that have been started on him, it could all lead to a huge disappointment if he can't play or get back to a high level. I'm not going to fall into the trap of counting on Smith until he shows on the field he's back.

There's just no reason to rush the guy at this point. Just let him continue his rehab all the way up to training camp...then ease him into the practices slowly.

Keep his reps and playing time limited until that 3rd preseason game...then turn him loose. Basically, just be smart about it and I think he'll deliver when the games count.

Depends on your definition of "premier" if we'll be able to afford 3 of them, but yeah at the very least we need several youngish veteran signings in the defense to give ourselves a chance at a run next year.

A premier DT, DE and CB. Is that all?

In another month we'll hear about Jaylon getting his '4.2' speed back.
"Getting" his 4.4 speed back could literally mean anything... I mean if he had been running a 6.5 the other day and now he's running a 5.9, technically he can still say that he is "getting his 4.4 speed back". Just could take a long time lol.

And yes, I know that he said he was running a 4.5 in a previous article, but still.

If he's continuing to have to rehab all the way to camp after a full year off rehabbing, that's not going to be a good sign. His rookie season was already thrown away so if he's not ready to fully participate in training camp, chances are he's going to end up being another wasted second round pick. He can't just be spending his first few seasons rehabbing, he has to start playing. If anyone wonders why the defense is lagging behind our offense, it's taking chances on pot heads and injured players instead of making smart, safe picks like we've done in the first round.

What - you haven't already dropped a wad on the Boys taking the SB next year?
