Jerry just announced it on the Radio.

They will not IR him in hopes that he could play this year.

He also confirmed that Kellen Moore is the backup.....

Kinda disappointing since that was supposedly our top priority after the season.

They know something we don't. Tell mxstar

Just covering their *****. Don't want to let the cat out of the bag yet.

FWIW, I will be surprised if he plays this year. I just think when push comes to shove, even if he's cleared the Cowboys will end up deciding just give him the full season to continue to rehab and get stronger and slowly work himself back into team activities.

I hope they don't take a chance and rush him into the roster.
Then onto the field.

The knee will probably be good to go.

Gurley played last year after tearing his knee.

Who knows about the nerve though. It sounds like the Cowboys don't even know how the nerve will respond.

I imagine he will go on PUP. Gives them plenty of time to see how he heals

Really a non story. You've got like 10 weeks into the season to activate from NFI. Doesn't take up a spot either way.

And let's stop with the "don't rush him back" stuff. He will have been a good 10 months post injury if he does get activated. Far long enough for the acl. The nerve is less predictable but it either is or isn't ready. It isn't like there is any greater danger of reinjury at 9 months vs 16 post surgery

There would be no reason to put him on IR. He can be put on PUP for 6 weeks then there is a 5 week window, so you basically have 11 weeks into the season. By then he should be ready to get some reps before the end of the season, if not he can stay on pup
Not likely to make much impact this year but getting reps in a handful of games at the end of the season would be good for him

There would be no reason to sit him if the nerve fires.

Incoming rookies who are already injured go on NFI, not PUP. Similar though.

Two top priorities were find a backup QB and fix the pass rush.

We may have done neither this offseason. LOL.

Also if he can't go, or they don't want to chance it, after time to bring him off the PUP, they can put him on the roster. Then if a no go, put him on IR for the rest of the year.
My guess is, if they are making a playoff push. and he looks good, he stays on the roster. If no playoff push, he goes on IR.
Not that he would be the difference in the playoffs at that point. But if he is better then the #53 guy, he stays.
