The Jaylon you're seeing today is not the same guy that was at Norte Dame and understandably so when accounting for his serious injury and his existing condition.

He was one of my favorite college players and I watched plenty of him every Saturday. He's moving mechanically right now and that won't subside until the drop foot is completely resolved. If you watched him with the Irish you saw a smooth athlete with elite burst. He's functional right now where he's at in his recovery but not close to the player he was at Norte Dame.
do you agree he put on maybe 20 pounds? he looked maybe 220 pounds and now maybe he put on to much so he can play mike linebacker?

Needs to play WLB not MLB. Said this right after we drafted him. He is a finesse player. He is a liability in the middle of the field even at 100 percent.

Yeah, me too.

"I've heard people hyping him up as the next Ray Lewis or Patrick Willis, but I just don't see it. I've also seen people call him a heat seeking missile. Again, I don't see it. You'll notice a theme here. He hates to get blocked and dances around blockers more than I like, which takes him out of plays. There isn't a lot that jumps off the screen here to me.

I would like to see something that shows that Smith excels at getting off one on one blocks. Surely, this is some game footage of this, right? We are talking about a middle linebacker in a 4-3 here. I think Smith would be an excellent weak side linebacker in this scheme. He needs to be in a position where he can see the field and not get caught in the muck. A middle linebacker is going to have to play more downhill and get his nose dirty."

Jaylon is a big part of the problem on defense. How qualified are you to say my blame is misdirected? What does Jaylon do well?

Surely you have reasoning behind your arguments rather than attacking the messenger and calling me unqualified. Please give me the details I am missing wise one.
Haha.. so when you can’t prove what you are saying and you get called on it then you attempt to make someone else disprove your uneducated analysis..nice try.
You said it so you back it up. It’s not my job to disprove the ramblings of another when they can’t even support their own rambling.

Weak my man.

Yes I think he deserves his own thread.

Shouldn't be on the field. I understand that its injuries that put him in this position but even then I think there were plenty of LBers available that could do a more serviceable job.

He is a liability in pass and run defense, he gets taken out of the play easily, is always a step slow and is not physical at all.

Maybe he can turn it around as he grows but I can't wait until Hitchens and Lee are back and IMO we relied too heavily on this guy being a factor. Big mistake.
He ran fairly well down field with their WR-type TE; however, he did look a step slow to the edge.

He has been forced into too many snaps too soon .
Makes tackles, but they are all 7 yards beyond the LOS.
doesn't fill holes in the run game.
Take a too many false steps

I have hope for him but it's frustrating to watch. I remember a guy in college that played as fast as a wr and was smooth as heck. It's just not there right now .
He may never be. He suffered a horrendous knee injury. Just watch him try to run at full speed. His left leg doesn't move right. It's as if that brace for the drop foot really limits his mobility.

I've said this for four weeks, and I've been chastised every time. He's been a huge liability all season... Having said that, today was his best of the four games.

I honestly thought I was watching different games because I saw problems from day 1. But if you go on twitter he is ballin and leads team in tackles. What some don't realize is those tackles are 5-10 yards past LOS.

What are your qualifications for 2nd guessing @Tio ???

You likely don't have the qualifications to know if his analysis is accurate or not.

I think they're afraid of the fragility of Sean Lee to play him at the mike again, and you don't want to put him at the strong side because it is a waste.

I would use Lee at the weakside and Smith at the strong side and hitchens at the mike until Lee is done. I think that is your best 3.

brace is fine. If healthy person wore brace you wouldn't notice. Problem is he can't fully feel the foot plant. Its why he tries to build up momentum almost like he is running in place. He is trying to rely on muscle memory for foot rather than feel.

Rams scheme was able to isolate and pick on the LB'rs in the game repeatedly.......Post to Gurley, big 1st down to Kupp over Jaylon, sideline pass long run to Gurley...........

Rod M. had no Answer......couldnt go 3 man front due to Gurley run yardage adding up
He should have loaded the box and run blitz, Ron id's always afraid to get beat deep

Liability in the pass defense and a non factor in the run defense, how can anybody disagree. At what point do we call this a failed experiment? The surgery was 21 months ago and he is still playing on one leg.

We don't have any choice due to the offseason plan. Going in with Hitch, Wilson and Lee was not a plan. They picked up Durant late out of desperation.

How was that not a plan?

Haha..
He already tried this failed strategy. So let me play along for a quick second...so what credentials would one need to ask someone what credentials they have? Guess what? I’ve got em..
Besides I didn’t second guess his analysis. I asked for his credentials and now here we are..

Hey maybe you can watch the All 22 and come back and tell us all how bad Jaylon and Dez both are.
You have been so right on Dez I’m sure your getting tired of watched Dez’s routes over and over...
Btw..didn’t you say your credentials would surprise us?
The only surprise we got was you avoiding stating these credentials. Interesting.

So Taco shouldn't be on the field either right?

Both are rookies that just finished the 4th game of their young NFL careers.

While we are at it, let's sit Lewis, Awuzie, & Woods too.

Screw any concept of allowing rookies actual game playing time to become accustomed to the speed of the NFL game. Who was the idiot that thought that was a sound strategy?
