He's not as good as Jones at safety. But, I don't see why he doesn't get more playing time...kinda like David Irving. And it's weird in that they will decide to give him a ton of playing time out of the blue and then move him back to a backup/special teams role. We need to get better at SS and the MIKE, first and foremost. I'd rather go Byron and Heath at the safety positions than move Byron to corner because it's a better combination at safety and you don't have to be a great corner to play effectively in this scheme.

At worst, he's a guy who will be a solid S in nickel and dime packages, while also providing good STs play. IMO he shows the ability to cover the deep halves better than any S we've had in over a decade. Like the way he's developed into a reliable player.

Played a great game, and almost won it twice ( sack, overturned int) plus he had another int preventing a long gainer.

Also, just saw he was being trained as backup kicker due to Dan Bailey disk problem.

Guy has some wheels 4.3 best, and is 6' 1" and 212 lbs...

Also recall he is a hitter.....

Idea ... Move Jones back to CB, and give Jeff a try at Safety

Reactions welcomed.....
I was an absolute Heath hater that would only refer to him as #38.

He completely earned my respect not only in that game but this season as a whole. I love the idea.

Heath has been making plays on the ball since his rookie year. He could keep up with the likes of AP and Megatron his rookie year to try and make plays on the ball but he got physically outmatched. He is like a truck out there now.

I've been calling for his role to be expanded for years now. He is a good player. Greg Williams will continue to coach them all. I feel good about the safety corps for a first time in a long time.

Two of the top four safties are free agents and might not even be back.

I feel better about it but I still want more. We need that one player. Maybe Heath will be it but usually a player like the one I want shows up sooner. OTOH, Heath hasn't had a lot of quality snaps as a starter.

I think he'll stay a ST corp player who is a positive in SPs.

Shouldn't be too hard to come up with four safeties including reupping some here. They still need to find that one guy.

I am not saying it will be tough. But Fuzzy said he feels really good about the safety position and I was just pointing out the safety position could be in flux in a couple of months.

I've always liked Heath but I cheer for the underdog. I never said he was an All-Pro but I never thought he was as bad as some fans would say he was on here. He did play a great game and he's improved a little each year. Maybe the coaches deserve a little credit for developing a player. Either way at least he adds depth at safety.

:):):):) I'm recommending you for GM :):):):)
Took me awhile but I kept negotiating and almost got the number 1 pick overall. I ended up settling for the 19th overall and their 1st next year.

Working on a deal that would send Hanna and a draft pick to Chargers for Hunter Henry.

Last trade I'm working on will go after a elite pass rusher like Clowney, Watt, Donald, or Daniele Hunter.

Free agency I signed Eric Berry

In the draft went CBs, LBs, DL and grabbed a 6'4 reciever with 4.3 speed.

Couldn't resign Leary but did trade Free for a 4th and 6th rounder. Slide Collins to RT and Cooper into LG

He has shown something. Maybe the football IQ is starting to come together for him in his 4th year...but he is worth exploring. Who knows, maybe he is the next Brock Marion

He does the Bill Bates role better than Bill Bates at the very least.

Church and who? Wilcox?

Between the two I think I prefer Wilcox. More upside that he is starting to realize. It's amazing the effect good coaching can have.
