I'll just add that he is the only player to pick off an Aaron Rodgers pass in the hot streak of now 8 games

And picked twice at that. And those saying he's slow - he's white, but he's not slow! I'm still not starting him, but it's not because he's slow.

Played a great game, and almost won it twice ( sack, overturned int) plus he had another int preventing a long gainer.

Also, just saw he was being trained as backup kicker due to Dan Bailey disk problem.

Guy has some wheels 4.3 best, and is 6' 1" and 212 lbs...

Also recall he is a hitter.....

Idea ... Move Jones back to CB, and give Jeff a try at Safety

Reactions welcomed.....
I like this guy. Not only is the only guy besides Sean Lee on the defense that knows how to catch a ball, but he plays hard and is pretty quick.

Great post!

We only see what he does while missing what a better player would do. As we proved this season, (actually the last ten) we can no longer be serviceable on defense. We are never going to win a Super Bowl with that approach.

So, with that being said, here's how to ask the question.

Who would you rather have, Darren Woodson or Jeff Heath? Because really - that's the difference.

That's what we should be looking for and only then we can start the discussion of whether Heath is a valuable backup and special teams player but that's where it should end.

Or James Washington , Brock Marion, who were supported by a great D Line and very serviceable Corners. Heath to me is developing nicely and has shown this year to be able to come down with an INT which is a welcomed add to our secondary....

I'd like to hear those who don't want Heath to play to give their reasons. I'm one of them, and I'm not 100% sure why. He does show an affinity for the ball, he seems to close to the ball better than Church or Wilcox, he's got more speed than either of them, his angles are not as bad as even the improved Wilcox.

I just don't want him on the field full time. Give me your reasons.

When you have just a guy in Church you let him walk and try to get a player just as good or upgrade for less money if you can. I think Heath is just as good or better than Church for a hell of a lot less money than we have been paying Church. It is a no brainer..

I loved James Washington. That's a great name from the past. Brock was no slouch either.

Ole James did wonders in our SB win against Buffalo. Brock wasn't a super star but was effective in his role. To me I'd be thrilled if Heath developed into either one of those.

Woodson will be hard for any future cowboy to match...

I'd like to see if we can have a bit of a rotation at safety between Heath and Wilcox. Heath in passing downs/nickel/dime and Wilcox in running downs/base. Jones would be the other safety at all times. Kinda like how we should only keep one true 1-tech (likely Thornton since he's under contract) for running downs/base and have another rotation of DTs who can provide pass rush, such as Collins, T. Crawford and Irving.
