Jeff Nixon to interview with Cowboys for OC opening

2 things can be true:

1. Kellen Moore is a top 10 OC.
2. Kellen Moore's offense grew somewhat stale and predictable in Dallas.

I'd love to see Dallas have more screen and WR depth variation plays.

If the structure is McCarthy is going to call the plays, a guy like Nixon who appears to be a really good run guy might be a decent enough fit.

I would hope if Nixon is hired, it signals a more balanced offense in 2023 and a revamped running back room.

Seems to affirm the notion that the "OC" will be an OC in title mainly, but in terms of actual responsibilities, an understudy to the real OC... Michael John McCarthy.

Bet Ben McAdoo recommended him.

Right as usual someone will be calling someone else's plays

He believed in a spread power running game. Baylor developed a top-notch running game under Nixon and it fell off even with good talent after he left.

One of the best aspects of coaching additions is they have experience with a lot of players.
If you think Tony Pollard is a poor mans McCaffrey, having CMC's former coach is a good way to use him in a similar fashion.

But it also helps if you want to bring in a vet free agent. A coach who has seen 4-5 guys pass through Carolina could well help you find one that is a good value RB2/3.

One of the finest offensive minds on the planet, superseded by only McCarthy himself.

Get ready for Robinson or Gibbs in the first.

If I'm following the timeline correctly, Nixon called plays as the OC after Joe Brady was let go in 2021. But, in 2022 Ben McAdoo was brought in to be the OC and Nixon was relegated to RB coach.
So, why Nixon instead of McAdoo?

It does. At this point I feel bad for Eric Bienemy…..he’s never getting head coach position and he’s just going on these interviews. Has to suck.
There is more to Bieniemy. He’s a hell of a coach but I believe he brings a lot of baggage with him

Just so happens D’onta Foreman is a free agent, ran for 900+ yards and …. IS CHEAP!

Rather just go with Davis, I think he showed a lot in minimal time this year.
I like Davis a lot.

But they could have Pollard, Foreman and Davis. That’s a pretty solid trio.

Foreman picks up the bruiser, short yard types and Pollard / Davis are your home run hitters.
