The one chink in Holmgren's armor has been his personnel work. He was a failure in Seattle as Head Coach/GM. Getting him involved in our personnel process doesn't really excite me.
I wonder your impression of Garrett if your standards are so high.

Holmgren has only like 3 losing seasons as a HC. And is one of like 5-6 guys who have HC'd two different Super Bowl participant Franchises.

He failed at President of Browns, but to be fair even Belichik sucked there...

If I were going to bring in a consultant to fix the offense, I would try to find a defensive coordinator that coached against Garrett. He would know all of Garrett's weaknesses.

it'll be a LOOOONNNGGG meeting

I think, knowing Jerry's ego, the "consultant" would be the defacto GM. He will tell Jerry how to run the show, Jerry will run the show that way, and then take the credit because after all, he is still GM.

And frankly, if the "consultant" is okay with that, I am all for it. Whatever it takes to get Jerry to stop playing Madden with our team.

I think something along the lines of Parcells in Miami, I read an article earlier maybe it was on here, but it said that JJ was real impressionable when it came to listening to other people, maybe now you have a filter when it comes to information that filters up to JJ, and you won't have so many people in his ear. I give JJ more credit than most on here, a person that is as successful as he is and as passionate does most everything with good intentions. I think he listens to those who he trusts, but as we all know everyone has different opinions, that is obvious from reading these boards.

Did I say anything about Holmgren as a Head Coach? I think he's a great coach. I just don't think he's good at picking players.

Hopefully Jerry doesn't ask the consultant to clock in.

This is a joke. A consultant is not going to make a difference. Just another person to report to Jerry so he can make a "put on the blindfold and pin the tail on the donkey" decision.

The last thing we need is another cook in an already packed kitchen. What this organization needs is a new leader at the top.

I disagree. A consultant would be closer to a de facto GM. Everyone is always complaining about Jerry the GM, so bringing in a "consultant" allows Jerry to continue in that role but essentially have someone tell him what to do. He'd be the big-picture guy.

Then, the offensive coordinator would take those duties away from Garrett, which is needed, and allow Garrett to just concentrate on being a head coach, which is needed.

If this is all we do, this team is doomed. It would be to appease the fans only.

By doing this Jerry would be telling everybody that JG is not ready yet and he's made a mistake in hiring him, but he's too chicken spit to tell him.

so JG will essentially be the motivator in chief,i am can live with this but i am not too sure about Garrett.

I Don't Understand Why Jerry Needs A Consultant When He Has All Of Us....:)

There's no basis for calling a consultant a defacto GM, unless Jerry is really willing to make Parcells-era changes in the structure of this organization. I'm expecting more of a Dan Reeves type situation, where Jerry brings in a guy and expects him to just be a figurehead.

The bigger question is who will be our offensive coordinator

I know a lot of people don't like the idea but Norv Turner would be a homerun hire for offensive coordinator. If he is hired is be willing to bet anybody on here that Tony would have his best season ever and our offense would be beast. I'd go as far to say the loser makes a 50 dollar donation to CowboysZone.

I believe the tweet referenced an offensive consultant a la Reeves, not a GM consultant. I doubt Jerry would ever do that when he has claimed he already has those resources around the league.

I really wish the Reeves thing had worked out. I think Wade pushed that and Jerry/Jason probably weren't the biggest fans based upon how it fell apart.

But that is what Jason needs and still needs. A mentor to help him with the ebb and flow of calling a game.

Someone should check if Jerry has a cloning machine before we get excited...
