It doesnt matter what jerry does or is rumored to do. Some fans just want to find something to complain about.

I think, knowing Jerry's ego, the "consultant" would be the defacto GM. He will tell Jerry how to run the show, Jerry will run the show that way, and then take the credit because after all, he is still GM.

And frankly, if the "consultant" is okay with that, I am all for it. Whatever it takes to get Jerry to stop playing Madden with our team.

Wow.

So what aspect is actually left to Garrett?

Press conferences.

Might as well just come out and admit that Jerry has so much faith in Garrett that he's willing to actually hire people to teach him.

this^^
after all his strength is giving a great PC, why not use him in that role

maybe he can be the PR guy for the team

For some reason I have the feeling that this "consultant" is going to be a former player

If Holmgren is the consultant, he could take over in 2014 if Jason stinks it up next season.

The one chink in Holmgren's armor has been his personnel work. He was a failure in Seattle as Head Coach/GM. Getting him involved in our personnel process doesn't really excite me.

Hah! Good one, although I slightly disagree. I think we have some good scouts, personnel people somewhere in the organization. It's just that the people they report to are morons.

hey now!!

jerry is just the "tie-breaker"

its not his fault

its not

its a "group decision"

everyone is to blame

which really means, no one is to blame (or held accountable)

I was thinking either Norv Turner or Chan Gailey. But I hope I'm wrong.

Knowing our luck, the consultant will be Larry Lacewell.

Lacewell and Switzer.

Larry will get paid in whiskey, Barry in Chuck E Cheese tickets.

So they are looking at Holmgren and Carmichael?

I think "chink in the armor" understates it a bit. I cannot get behind the hiring of a personnel man who was responsible for picking Brandon Weeden last year.

Right? This is very similar to what we saw with Campo before he was replaced.

Well if we didnt constantly lose then there wouldn't be anything to complain about.

All I care is that we get someone who will help us avoid the Jenkins, Felix's, Spears, Carps, Bennett's and Jacob Rogers's of the draft.

I know our last three drafts have been better, and I know everyone misses on occasion, but I'd like us to hit on a 85-95% of our first/second round picks from here on out.

Jeff Sullivan ‏@SullyBaldHead There are talks of not only bringing in an offensive coordinator, but a consultant, much in the way Dan Reeves was supposed to be in 2009.

If I were going to bring in a consultant to fix the offense, I would try to find a defensive coordinator that coached against Garrett. He would know all of Garrett's weaknesses.

Hey Jason,

The offense you handcrafted over the last half dozen years sucks so we're bringing a team of experts in to fix it.

We want you to stick around to give inspirational pregame speeches, encourage playes on the practice field and say nothing during press conferences though.

Yup. That should work well.

We wont get a 'real' OC. We will get one tht has been neutered.

Maybe Garrett's ego is not as fragile as some here would like to think?

There is something called a "growth mindset" that welcomes challenge, fialure, and opportunities to learn from others in order to grow and develop your own skills beyond their current limits.

I know it sounds crazy, but IF this scenario were to play out, perhaps he wouldn't see it as totally emasculating him as some here seem to think.
