Laugh all you want - No one and I mean no one on this board has had as much first hand experience analyzing the Tuna.

I was in CT during the Giants run and was force fed him. Saw him make the Pats the franchise they are today. Kraft, Bledsoe and Parcells put Pats on the map in the 90's. Close enough to see his Jets run....

Texans and Cowboy fans for the most part are just seeing this - and truly don't think Like or get a Noreast guy like Parcells. At many levels he's playing games through the media. He's a wiseguy that enjoys the stage.

Having read his books - you gotta know what makes him tick, what he expects, what he hates and really listen to all that he says.

Read what Wolverine and BZ just posted. They are completely clueless and have no idea what Parcells is going to do, Wolverine jhonest enough to admit it and BZ to blind to get it as he grasps at straws.

Romo has beaten out Henson all camp, in the Game and is ready to run an NFL offense. Henson is not. Henson fans, listen to LTN. Run to the long term potential because that Romo announcement is on you, and sooner than later.....

Aren't you due for another Als thread about now?

How about another run down of your "hit" list?

I haven't read tick tock, or Hensonite for awhile. Past time to write it, don't ya think?

LTN is rubbing your face in it and we are clueless.;)

You might wanna check out the Weds Morning Practice. In Red Zone drills Henson did the best. He found Jason Witten 2 times in the endzone for 2 TD passes. Romo didn't find the endzone. His closest pass was a high pass off of Morgans fingers. But go ahead and think Romo did better still.

You should seriously take the words of BP when asked about Romo getting more time with the 2nd team. - DON'T READ ANYTHING INTO THIS.

To those that don't get Parcells.

Its really, really simple to read what he's going to do here.
Henson fans start your fall back spin. Its coming and fast. Romo will be named the backup as early as next Tuesday.

he was named backup QB last yr before the season, what happened during the season Nors?

Why exactly did Parcells pass over Romo for Henson when he could have 1) put him in the Baltimore game 2) started him 4 days later vs Chicago but didnt and 3) could have put Romo in for Henson on same day, but chose injured VT instead?

I'm actually glad Romo looks good right now and unlike you, actually saw the game to be able to actually draw some conclusions on...it was obvious to me (and just about everyone who watched it) that both QB's were better than they were last yr...

honestly Nors, its time to shut the hell up over this "look who's #2!!!!" garbage...the act is old and tired

Babe Laufenberg with GaC on ESPN 103-Dallas

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Babe:
This team needs to realize that they have to score to win. Most all recent early draft picks have gone to defense.
WR is a concern. Parcells won his 2 SB's with non-descript WR's. Difficult to do these days. This team needs WR's.
I sed to keep an eye on Romo 2 years ago. Look at how well he is playing.
It's not even close this year. Romo is definitely the #2 QB.
Romo had an edge and it gets bigger with each practice.
Henson may end up being good, but right now I don't see anything in him.
Cooperstein broke in: I think Henson has something.
To be fair, Henson is just about at rookie stage now. He needs time.
Romo WILL be a starter in this league. I see a lot of Kurt Warner in him.
Bledsoe is still capable of taking a good team to the playoffs, but not CARRYING one to the playoffs.
If the OL doesn't protect him he will amount to nothing here.

No way - You decide when we can discuss the backup battle? Nice try Davey.

Don't reply, put me on ignore. You can't make the announcement go away on backup QB. Stop clicking your heels, you aint in Kansas anymore.

Babe really has no credibility on looking at QB's, because he wasn't a good NFL QB.... because all quarterback coaches in the NFL were Hall of Fame Quarterbacks at one time?

When I posted Troy's complements about Romo and his quotes on the radio that he thinks Romo can start in this league, I even had a poster who claimed Troy isn't a talent evaluator and doesn't know anymore about it than anyone on this board. So evidently even great QB's in the NFL don't know anything about quarterbacks either.

Its seems whether they are great QB's in the NFL or scrub QB's in the NFL, anyone who thinks Romo can start in this league doesn't know what they are talking about. At least they all have that in common.

I guess I just don't understand the need to belittle anyone who says good things about Romo.

I guess I just really don't understand the need to ridicule anyone who says anything complementary about Romo.

ok, so who was Ron Wolf talking up at QB last yr in training camp? Everyone spends alot of time having the man crush on Wolf, there used to be threads almost weekly about Wolf being brought in the fold and how it would be "an awesome move for the franchise"...yet the guy that Ron Wolf praised and made a number of very positive comments on is written off after one season...Wolf's track records on QB evaluation is pretty solid

and before you say it, yeah I'm glad Aikman thinks alot about Romo...his opinion does carry some credibility...Laufenberg though has no clue what he's talking about half the time

And what QB was it in the Cards game that got us in scoring position the most. Drew Henson. And he didn't have Jason Witten and some 1st teamers like Romo did.

I sed to keep an eye on Romo 2 years ago. Look at how well he is playing.

That is Babes opinion.

But the FACTS are this.

Henson showed improvement in the Cards game and he is improving more in practices.

Again in Weds Morning practice. Red Zone drills. Henson 2 TD passes Romo 0

Dont be pissed at me for Henson improving. Take it up with him.

LMAO!!

Nors, I grew up in a Giants fan family, my dad played semi-pro ball for a team that was originally part of the Jints, and the lullaby we got crooned was "Goodbye Allie'..I chose the Jets but there is nothing that ever went on in Jintsland I didn't hear of. My dad and brothers made sure of that.

Lived in NE during the Tuna years and had a very special interest as Bill was then the opponent coach. Taught at the school the Pats trained at and even had the occasional chance to chat up the man. Of course, in NY, I followed him not just as a coach, but as the GM who turned the organization around. Not much has escaped me here either.

That doesn't make me an 'expert', just because I read every word or hang on every pc. And it doesn't make you one either. I will say this tho..what I've learned about Tuna's MO, particularly his handling of young people, the sports psychology angle, motivational technique, and human nature, has been a valuable learning experience that I have tried to incorporate into my own teaching.

I am also humble enough to LISTEN when he speaks, and not so egotistical that I convince myself I 'understand' all his angles. He still surprises me, and that's a good thing, but I know enough to realize he is as honest as they come. We do far too much reading into things. He may be a master manipulator, but that doesn't mean he works very hard to be inscrutable.

I think you lack the essential humility to ever learn well from anyone. As long as you contine to make every topic a source for middle school oneupsmanship, you'll never fully appreciate what Parcells brings to the game, and to the young poeple he coaches. He teaches then to be men, to eke every last ounce of potential out of themselves, and the reason he is so beloved by ex-players is his empathy for them. He would never talk about Als as you do. Never.

As one of those ex-players said just last week, you feel like he is playing alongside you, not just you playing for him.

Everyone is 'wrong' about some trivia, Nors. But few people care like you do.
and it is stunning that you feel somehow on top of things for once using the common enough term 'ball patting'. I sure don't recall it, Winicki and I have been talking about it for months, but when Hos mentioned that we have, you got upset..that was YOUR thing. Is that like, odd? And you felt compelled to bring it up again. As those some important battle had been won?

Is this really the only competitive venue in your life?

I have no idea what you are referring to with the infamous "Sunday nite attack". Enlighten me.

But maybe also keep in mind that I can bury you. Easily, anytime the mood strikes me..tho usually my maturity wins out over the inclination to whup your juvenile hide.

The first time I ever saw Bill Parcells was in the late 70s, 78 or 79 I believe. I also believe it was his very first head coaching job. It was the Air Force Academy up in Colorado Springs. As I recall, they were not very good then. In fact, Parcells didn't stay long. Two seasons at the most. Maybe even one. Over the years, I have had opportunity to follow his career. I am not going to say I am a Parcells conasure by any means. I am simply a fan of football. I liked Ray Perkins and I knew of Parcells from his days at Army, FSU and TT, along with **. I have watched him a great deal. What does all this mean? Not much. Parcells is not a guy who is going to make it easy for anybody to predict. It's not his way. Everybody thinks this guy is some master stratigest who has all the answers for every situation. I don't think that's the case. Like many of us, I think Parcells trys things, tries to motivate, tries to teach. Some of it takes and some of it doesn't. He makes certain decisions based on experience, some on intuition and he projects some things. He's not infowlable (sp?). I think he believes that hard work, intelligance and preperation takes you a long way. In the final analysis, I think that the more you learn about Bill Parcells, the more you see that nobody really knows what's going on in his head. It's by design. Anybody who claims they know, IMO, is kidding themselves. You can make a guess. For example, based on camp reports for the last two weeks and what I saw last Saturday, I could make a guess that Romo is going to be the #2 guy. It would be a safe predicition because odds are in your favor. However, I could not say for sure that it would be as such. I could not claim that I knew or that the decision had already been made. Not with any facts to support me. Only an educated guess.

People think the game may be passing him. I think he works hard. I think he's intelligant. I think he understands the game. I would take these qualities in anybody and feel comfortable that I've got a good person to get the job done. He will do well by us, given time.
