Who is Terrell Owens? I'll take "cry-baby drama queens" for $400, Alex.

McNabb did a radio interview today with WIP 610 AM in Philly (listen at 610wip.com, Andy Reid did an interview as well), and he was asked about the last 5 minutes of the Super Bowl...

Ya know, where he got too tired or too sick to run a hurry-up offense and was dry-heaving in the huddle with his team down 10 points, essentially costing the Eagles any realistic chance at mounting a comeback.

Here is his brand-spankin'-new explanation for that meltdown of his...

(paraphrased)

"We were rotating guys in and out, plus we didn't know how long T.O. would be able to play and what he'd be able to do... that did a lot on the play-calling. We didn't know what to do... do you call a play as if he's in there, or do you call a play to just call a play?"

So THAT explains it... it's not that he was "sick" (as his offensive teammates suggested after the game)... it's not that he was "tired" (as McNabb himself originally said after the game, but then flip-flopped and denied months later)...

It was all T.O.'s fault! The guy who risked his career and rehabbed his butt off just to play in the game (and played marvelously) was the REAL culprit!

Forget the fact that Donovan's gotten sick in the 4th quarter of other games (like the Bucs game last year)... it was actually T.O. who was lagging and holding the offense back, while #5 AKA Captain Fitness was chomping at the bit to rush to the line and wear out the Pats D!

Good to finally hear the truth! :lmao2:

Let's ask his Philadelphia teammates who talked to the media about what really happened that day.

What's that?

Oh, his ex-teammates you say.....

Yet another reason to root against this fraud.

I think TO is to blame...my "inside sources" tell me that TO was seen slipping some of ippecac (sp?) syrup in McNabb's gatorade.

On a serious note...what does that have to do with McNabb bending over having trouble breathing and getting sick on the field?

Look I don't like TO and make no bones about it but that just sounds silly.

If I remember correctly, his Syracuse Orangemen played the Sooners in Norman one year, and he was hurling regularly, kinda like "Old Faithful". I thought it was just the heat, but maybe he is just a pansy!

If that was the real reason, why wasn't the team so sluggish the entire game?

McNabb is so full of crap. I can't stand him.

Okay, I am by no wild stretch of the imagination a Terrell Owens fan. I respect him as a football player, I wish he'd shut the hell up. If he responds to this screed I will personally give him a standing ovation. The one palatable thing about the man is that he shows up to play and in that Super Bowl the Eagles had nothing at all to worry about with regards to how much he was going to give and how hard he was going to be able to go.

In other words, that "explanation" from McNabb is a bold faced lie.

I don't think I'm gonna go nuts on a paraphrased radio interview quite yet.

That would be Jon Runyan, Hank Fraley, and Freddie Mitchell. Only two of them are ex-teammates. I would, however, enjoy reading any argument that they were released/traded for reasons other than performance.

And I would love to see a rational explanation how it was the guy putting up the MVP performance's 'fault' rather than the guy tossing his cookies in crunch time.

Funny, I had only heard it come from Fraley and Mitchell. I could be mistaken.

But where there's smoke there's fire.

Too many times it's someone else's fault when it comes to Donovan McNabb and his fragile psyche.

Anyone paying attention can see the real culprit.

Well this isn't entirely correct. Owens availability and capability was in question by everyone (except him). The Eagles certainly had to have alternate game plans depending on whether or not he was going to last 4 quarters. I don't really know how this could have caused them to not have plays ready, though. I don't buy the 'sick' story either, as McNabb threw a pretty nice touchdown pass on that drive. I've always felt the coaching staff just thought they had no chance against the Patriots D unless they took their time and were careful with the play calling.

Fraley and Runyan jointly commented on the same radio program. If you 'heard' one you must have 'heard' the other. I don't know about smoke and fire, but I reiterate that I would very much enjoy reading _any_ argument that Mitchell and Fraley weren't cut and traded, respectively, on their own merit.

As soon as you make a rational case for it not being McPukey's fault, OK?

So you didn't see McPuke huffing and puffing between plays like he was in labor? Get real.

And regardless of the reasons for Mitchell's and Fraley's departures, the reality is that they BOTH said McNabb was sick/tired. What reason would they have to lie?

McNabb HIMSELF said he was tired during that stretch, after the game. He changed his mind months later when asked about it again, deciding it's best not to admit to being out of shape when you're the starting QB, face of the franchise, and "leader" of the team. And now, of course, it was all T.O.'s fault.

Speaking of T.O., how many Eagles teammates were at his b-day party after the Eagles suspended him? Nineteen was it? Hmmmm...

Plays? I saw McNabb look like he was in trouble on one play.

They both said McNabb had trouble calling one play.

No, McNabb has never given any detail of what happened on the final drive that caused them to call plays in the huddle. This "didn't know what plays to call" explanation has been his only offering. This isn't the first time he's offered it, either.

Speaking of T.O., how many Eagles teammates were at his b-day party after the Eagles suspended him? Nineteen was it? Hmmmm...

And almost all of them went to McNabb's charity event in the same time frame. What's your point that 19 Eagles didn't mind T.O. as a person? No kidding. Even McNabb and T.O. themselves have reconciled at this point. It's a fraternity.

"I was hungry … trying to make every play possible. No, I wasn't sick and I didn't throw up. I was tired a little bit. We scored on that drive and that's the main thing," McNabb said.

So yes, he did originally say he was tired. But then later...

"I wasn't tired, so whatever comments have been made, I don't know if it was directed toward me... [but] I just wanted to set the record straight - I wasn't tired," McNabb said of his Super Bowl performance last season.

Flip-flop. First he was tired, then he wasn't. And now, it was T.O.'s fault.
......

When asked if Freddie Mitchell had to call a play because McNabb was in distress, McNabb said that account was inaccurate.

"No, Freddie did not call a play," McNabb said with a laugh.

...........

On Tuesday, four Eagles players said McNabb was so ill in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl that a teammate had to call a play in the huddle.

(I'm sure all 4 of them lied, right?)

"He fought to the end," center Hank Fraley told Comcast SportsNet on Monday. "He didn't get a playcall in one time. He mumbled and (wideout) Freddie Mitchell yelled out the play we were trying to bring in. He was puking at the same time trying to hold it in."

.................

"He was definitely having some kind of complications," Mitchell said. "It was hard. He kind of tried to give the hand signals to the team. I knew he was thinking and I finished the play up."

Receiver Greg Lewis echoed those comments to NBC 10.

I'm sorry to expose your hero to you like that for the lying, out-of-shape fraud that he is. I know the feeling. I was crushed when I found out the Ultimate Warrior wasn't as amazing as I thought and the WWF was all fake.
