big school guys havent exactly worked out either, its more a fundamental problem from Scouting.most of our DBs have trouble when the ball is in the air and they only react once the ball is caught.the only guy with some semblance of coverage ability is Scandrick but he has terrible ball skills.

He only has a single more career interception than does Claiborne.

What quarterback holds the record for the most interceptions in a single game?

The NFL record for passes intercepted in a single game is 8 thrown by Chicago Cardinals QB Jim Hardy in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles in 1950.

The NCAA Division 1-A record for passes interception in a game is 9 and is held by John Reaves of Florida. The game was against Auburn in 1969.

Something to do with Dallas.. Newman and Pacman became one of the best DB duos with Zimmer in Cinci after being awful for us. I have a bad feeling Mo won't live up to his potential until he leaves Dallas.

Not sure how you can blame the guy. He got hired, was given a pair of physical corners and a year later had to change tracks with the same players.

The team has little talent in the secondary, and the little talent they do have is poorly suited to play the scheme they are playing.

This guy is supposed to be one of the best DB coaches in the game. Our defensive backs have been awful.

They've been awful longer than he's been here though. Is there a scout that is in charge of scouting DBs, or do scouts just scout every position.

I cannot for the life of me understand why our DBs are consistently terrible. And they have been for a long time.

What's going on? It's not like the organizing isn't trying. They are throwing tons of resources at the position.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm being serious. Not trying to start a complain thread. This is a legitimate question.

Our DB'S suck because they suck. I can't believe Jason keeps letting this mediocrocy continue.

IIRC back when we had a pass rush, our corners would always play way off from the receivers. Some teams took advantage of that, and did 1 step, quick slants/passes to counteract our pass rush/corners 10 yards off the receiver.
While I understand that they don't want the corners to get burned, pressing the receivers could at least buy the pass rush more time to get to the QB. OR at the very least stop a quick pass on 3rd down short yardage situation.

Jerome Henderson is a great 3-4 defense secondary coach and only coached 34 man. Just like we built a defense for the 34 and the switched to the 43 zone when we didn't have the players.
Carr is a man cover 34 CB.
Claiborne is a press man corner.
This is why we signed carr and drafted claiborne.

We should have never switched to the Tampa 2 43.

idk what it is but we always seem to have bad secondary play. Is it because we don't value the safety position as much as other teams? Are we not drafting guy that fit our scheme? idk. Im completely loss. For some reason teams are able to complete easy passes vs our defense and have guys wide open.

In my world, pressing the receivers/knocking them off their route is Football 101.

I think it's because our "GM" and football people can't recognize safety/defensive backfield talent. They wouldn't know it if it fell down on their head.

Jerome Henderson will be the next scapegoat that loses his job at the end of the year. Seriously I think Jerry will clean house at the end of the season and make a run at getting Gruden.

I'm for it, but Please Jerry allow Gruden to chose his known staff....

Well, in that world when the DB's are pressing the WR and knocking them off their routes, the next thing you do is run downfield with them and then turn and look for the ball towards the end of the route. When a defense does that against a fast, running QB like Kap, they will consistantly allow him to eat up big chuncks of yards with the DB's back to the line of scrimmage. That, IMO is a sure way to get beaten. That is also football 101 Sportsbabe, and if you watch that, you will see that almost all defenses will do that against good running QB's.

What I would have thought Marinelli would have done is to primarily play a zone against SF, but periodically throw in some man coverage to just hit them with a changeup and not let Kap get comfortable either way. Maybe they did that some, but I don't remember really seeing any, although I wasn't specifically watching for that. I just don't remember seeing it.

... and in my world that's why you have LB's:)

If the offense blocks it up right, they'll usually have a blocker on the LB's unless the defense specifically uses one as a spy on the QB... which is a good idea in a lot of situations.

You know it's bad when I'm missing Newman and Mike Jenkins . I'd rather have them over claiburnt and Carr .

Campo took the heat before him. There has to be more to it.

There have been a few who came to Dallas with good reputations and left looking like c$@p.

Come to Dallas and kill your career.
