Best case scenario career back up here is dallas where he has to play sparingly, due to us winning by a lot or clinching early.
I dont think he is an nfl starting quarterback. Maybe we can trick another team into thinking he is for picks, but to me i think he fits the mold as the perfect backup for us. Someone youd feel comfortable if he wss thrust into a lityle action, but i dont think he could do it consistently in a long nfl season against number 1 defenses game planning against you.

Rush has put more on film than arguably any other rookie QB, but I'm still not prepared to vault him over top-15 talents.

But I will say this: I've seen a bit of Watson this preseason, and he has been atrocious. He can scramble, but not much more.

The reason I'm excited about Rush even though it's preseason is that he acts like he has it all under control, the game isn't too big or fast, he knows where he wants to go with the ball, decisive, moxie, hasn't been rattled, appears to quickly recognize the coverages.
More proof the draft is a crapshoot and this board has some posters that could do as well or better scouting as the guys who get paid to do it. If Rush is as good in the reg season games as he is in the preseason there no way we will ultimately be able to keep him as he won't resign to bE a backup and some team will beg us to take several of their first round picks from them for him

Rush please

Like another poster said, don't get carried away. Cooper received the vast majority of his preseason snaps against third and fourth teamers… Players who will not even be on their respective teams' rosters two weeks from now. Those other quarterbacks all played alongside his starters, and against the opposition's starting defense.

Cooper shows a lot of promise, but I would not go comparing him to most starting quarterbacks just yet.

Based on what facts exactly?

Based on he is a udfa playing against backups(with backups) and fits in.well there. We want our backup to be able to beat other backups. Being game planned against in an nfl season and against starters is totally different.

The guy looks like he can play but lets not get carried away with our expectations of this guy so fast.

Cooper Rush

Ugh really guys are we really doing this? Are we really now comparing him to these high draft picks. I knew this was coming. Why are we all obessed with comparing people. Look Rush has played very well and he deserves to be on this team. Im hapoy to have him but its impossible to compare him to those high draft picks. Lets just see how it plays out. One season at a time. Who knows how good this kid would be playing against real starting personal on defense. Hopefully we never have to find out. The kid had a great camp and he earned a spot. Just lets not compare him to anyone just yet.

This is Dak's Team....groom Rush for a high draft pick next year or after

Go Cowboys! Go Dak!

:flagwave:

High draft pick? How high? In your opinion how high if a pick do you think we can get for him. Assuming and hopefully he never sees the field at any point during rhe regular season. Whats a realistic draft pick we can get from Rush in your opinion.

For a desperate team #1

For an interested team #2

Flip that pick to upgrade defense. Just my take but I'm just a fan.

Maybe once he makes the 53 for sure he'll be back to try and stealthily advocate for himself.

I'm 95% positive he's actually Kellen Moore. And if he isn't, he's a relative.

I posted this in the New Member forum, but will put here too. (What stands out to me is Rush has no red areas and has shown more than first round picks)
