That Maras, Browns, and Richardsons of the NFL will need to die off first. They are anit-labor and pro-collusion to the hilt.

Its really bad when you think of how many games come down to bad calls. People's livelihoods are affected by these calls, coaches fired, losers become winners and vice versa. And to think these guys are attorneys and doctors in the real world, only devoting a fraction of thier time to the game. Every fan of every team feels like the refs screwed them, and its because they did at one point or another. I know it balances out (supposedly) but wrong is still wrong. If the commitment was actually made I think wed see a drastic improvement. Remember the scab officials werent much worse than the "real" ones? I believe every word of what your saying. Old Jerry refusing to go along to get along has never sat well with them.

I would think that it isn't a good direction for most of the league. You want people to follow the whole league not just there respective teams.

The larger problem being that the NFL is still shorting us all by hiring part time referees. Pay them what it takes and have everyone studying film and finding a way to get better at thier craft year round because to this day officiating still sucks. Officiating should be a full time job. Rules in plain English would help also. If I was the NFL Id be sensitive to my crappy officals also.

Strongly agree. The product is completely watered down now with more, confusing, conflicting rules added every year and part time referees having to enforce them.

No one even knows what is going to get called anymore, even with instant replay you gave the previous head of officiating getting calls wrong. That's a problem.

you must have missed the "team-generated" part.

what's crazy is that a fan can upload video from their smartphone in real time, but the team can't.

No, I didn't miss that. They're on an NFL field playing a league game. All content is the league's. Now I think it's stupid to put those restrictions on teams but they have the right to do so.

I agree with Jerry, I hope he wins this one. I think if Elliott, Prescott or Bryant or anyone makes a good play and there's a highlight of it that the players should be able to post the play. I mean it is their work that their putting out there. If I was in the NFL and made a sack, TD or incredible play, I'd want my friends to be able to see it on my social media.

I don't agree that the players should be able to post highlights, but I do think the team should.

The team is paying the players, so it owns the content. Players should not be able to give out that content for free. Each team has the right to market its product and social media is a marketing tool. The league should be free to use whatever content it needs to to promote the team, but so should the team that generates that content and contributes to the overall structure of the league.

IMO, the league is being shortsighted on this. There would need to be some restrictions and limitations involved, but it's better to have 33 entities drawing eyes to the the league through social media than just one.

Is it any wonder that NFL TV ratings are down ~10%...
The no fun league stuck in the past.

Ironically the one thing that can save the NFL from drowning is the Cowboys having great success. Watch the TV ratings next Sunday night.

Yes, and the NFL knows this.
This is why Dak fell to late in the 4th round and Jaylon fell into the 2nd round.
Actually all the teams knew how good Dak is and he easily could have gone in the top 10.
They also knew Jaylon will soon recover and would have gone by the mid 1st round also.
They had to create the next dynasty to save their own skins

lol :muttley:

I would bet that the "no fun league" has nothing to do with ratings but it is the oldtimers that are not watching anymore rather than the younguns.

I actually think it has more to do with younger generation moving away from "live" television of any sort. They want to watch content when they have time not when networks air it. I wouldn't be surprised to see TVs start to go away in next few years for early adopters of mobile only devices in home.

Which brings me to another point. I have friend who started taping Cowboys games and watches them later. He says its 100% more enjoyable and less stressful. If they win he watches it completely. If they loose he might not even watch any of it. This way his experience of watching Cowboys is totally enjoyable with no heart breaking losses to endure.

When it comes to managing a team, Jerry has his faults. However, if we are talking about marketing and rights, I give Jerry the green light to do it his way. 100%.

I'm not sure what position you're even taking here.

Jerry is arguing that they should remove these restrictions. You say you disagree with him and agree with Kraft. But now you say it's stupid for the NFL to put those restrictions on the teams?

This is just like merchandise sales.

Each individual team owns their information.
Merch sales are shared. But showing highlights on twitter in itself doesn't generate revenue. It's not about money but control. The NFL wants to control its image and I get that. But teams should be able to show highlights with some regulation such as not using video to attack officials
