He's just as likely to get hurt on a sack as he is running the football. Even if he was to get hurt, a top pick for our new HC isn't the worst outcome.
he runs 10 times per game, he is getting hit by LB running full steam or DT, etc. do we expect him to get sacked 6 times a game? and if he runs 10 times and he can still get sacked. so that's even more chances of getting hit and hurt.

Stephen is probably going to be worse than Jerry. Not only a big mouth but a cheapskate.
that's not far from the truth. anywhere I have worked, the financial folks always want to control cost, since they have to control over revenue....which all leads to the bottom line, vs. sales people who want to spend spend spend. Stephen grew up managing the salary cap and cost. its become his nature. he does some good things, by taking advice of people like mcclay and coaches, but he also doesn't spend like his Dad use to do.

Must be nice to be billionaires. You can do most anything. Include pretending you are some sort of expert on football. Never scouted. Never played in the NFL. Never coached in the NFL or in college. Yet some how they are experts. I discount nearly everything Dumb and Dumber say about football. It is either nonsense or so obvious that any child could say the same.

Wealth does not correlate with intelligence. Look at Lebron James. Wealthy guy. Has the intellect of a 9 year old.
You guys always find a way to expose yourselves on here. LeBron James, the intellect of a 9 year old? Lol.

and yet like you said they are billionaires..I will listen to them to learn how to do business. they are both excellent marketing and salesmen. but they are not football people, yet they have the most valuable franchise in NFL and one of the highest valued franchise in the world. so they can't be that dumb......

Lebron is much smarter than you give him credit. he makes just as much money away from basketball as he does in basketball. he is on his way to being a billionaire...he can't be that dumb..

yet you and I are wasting time on the internet chat board....just sayin

the mere fact many don't recognize how astute Stephen is indicates they don't know much about running business on a grand scale. it's just easier to chirp out inane witticisms disparaging the man. in the last few years he's put together a great o-line, top wr, good secondary and upgraded our lb's. he dealt with the dez problem when no one else had the cajones to do anything about it. witten's retirement took everyone by surprise. we now have arguably the best rb in football. and while dak remains an unknown, he has shown he can win.

Stephen doesn't make these kinds of decisions without consulting others. most noticeably mcclay and probably sources (former gm's, etc.) outside the organization. he doesn't pretend to be a coach like daddy. I feel far better with Stephen running things than with jerry running things. there is no need to tell opposing defenses we're going to be running dak 10 times a game. let them guess. whatever the plan, it worked very well against the giants.

I once thought like this........... we would be better off with Stephen. I was impressed when it was Stephen who first talked Jerry out of Manziel and with McClay, helped us pick Martin.

But I am not so sure anymore. Some of his comments the last year or so as he's gotten more power, have confused and even disappointed me.

I am beginning to think the old apple didn't fall very far from the tree.

I have little doubt this will end up being the dumbest comment in the entire thread.

many think that. I am not among them. I think he's sharp. in truth, there's not a gm/owner in the nfl who hasn't made mistakes on occasion. key is to minimize them and move on quickly from them.

I am on this Board because I am a fan. I like to post on this board. I am a CFA Charterholder and MBA. I make a great living. Not a billionaire but I am more than comfortable. I read that Lebron's IQ tested to be 76. Not sure if that is true. You ever listen to him speak? Guy contradicts himself in the same sentence. Lets cut to the chase - Lebron is famous because he can play basketball. He has had people kiss his butt since he was 8 years old. Problem is he now believes he is some God-like figure. What idiot calls himself the Chosen One. King James. An uber narcissist. As for Jerry - He is a marketing genius. He really is. Great oil man back in the day. Terrible GM. He has ruined this franchise.

You keep putting those turds on their pedestals. They love guys like you.

It's not about just making mistakes. He, at times, seems like he has no idea what he's doing. Comments like how he wasn't even sure why we don't make trades like other teams was a red flag for sure.

I don't think they have a particular plan in place. I think the plan constantly changes and that's, in part, to Stephen. Stephen was on board, for example, with the idea that we should not invest money or assets into the TB position based on studies and data they had. Then the 2015 season happened and Stephen is all about grabbing Elliott with the 4th pick.

The book is not written on Stephen for sure. So maybe he'll trend the other way for me. We'll learn a lot about Stephen in the next 12 months if this team fails to make the playoffs again. Big decisions will then have to be made about Garrett and Prescott.

The fact he wants to keep Prescott healthy for the future, isn't a great sign IMO because I am not sure one can firmly conclude that Prescott is the guy you want at QB for the next 6-8 years. He still has to prove some things IMO.

if you believe LeBron's i.q. is 76, you are probably liable to believe anything you are told or read. 70 is considered barely educable. he's a lot smarter than that.

interesting quote

"...Now here is where things get interesting. Cowboys VP and Jones' eventual successor Stephen Jones went on his radio show on 105.3 The Fan on Monday (h/t Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News) and sang a very different tune. He said “You can’t just consistently serve your quarterback up as a runner... I can’t necessarily see our plan being to run Dak 8-10 times a game. I think you use it to set everything else up.” Essentially, this suggests a philosophical schism between the two leaders of the Jones family. The patriarch wants Prescott to run so that the Cowboys can win now. The successor wants Prescott to stay in the pocket to preserve his health. ..."

the more Dak runs, the more you put him in line of getting hit and injured. win now? maybe 5 or 6 games...and get Dak hurt.... I don't advocate running the QB....except very selectively and not every week.

I don't think what the two of them said are nearly as opposite as the writer makes it. Jerry said Dak's running is a benefit, and Stephen didn't say anything that was opposed to that. He just said there has to be a limit to it, and Jerry didn't say anything that was opposed to that.

Look at the last sentence of this post - it indicates Stephen wants Dak to stay in the pocket. He didn't say that. He merely said the QB can't consistently be used as a runner - that running 8-10 times every game would be too much.

look without his running ability hes a below average passer, hes not starter without his legs..Im sorry its the truth, he is what he is and his legs make him better..you want proof Tyrod Taylor looked horrible throwing but they kept him in, a Rookie Baker Mayfield comes off the bench cold to play his first snap in the NFL, and takes them down and gets 3 in two minute period..comes out and basically in 31 mins of play has the production of an entire Dak Game..BM is a NFL QB with Arm Talent , he can make living in the pocket, even though he can move hes more like a Romo where he uses his legs to buy time to hit guys downfield.. Dak needs his legs to be a viable starter at best..its pretty obvious to most by now that Dak has to use his legs to keep drives going because he hasn't got much better from the standing pocket presence..I wish Dak all the luck in the world as hes our Qb but its become apparent watching natural passers like Baker Mayfield be able to things dak can not..Cam, TT, is the same way there are others, take the run out of their game well they are backups at best..go back always like Griffin and a bigger name like Mike Vick..some guys need that its part of their game..

I usually agree with you but don't you think its time to actually win a playoff game or 2? The Dallas FO has not earned any credibility given the last 20 plus years. Fans have a right to be skeptical until proven otherwise.

Did I say I believe it? I said I read it and don't know if it is true. So try reading my post again. I do listen to his press conferences and marvel at how stupid he sounds.

Both are Idiots to some to degree, but both are very smart as well. Jerry is too giving, Stephen is too cheap and wants to let everyone go like the Patriots, but they dont have the coach to continually coach up players. Somewhere in the middle of the 2 would be ideal. The biggest difference with me is I love Jerry. At least he kept players on this team that I love. I dont "love" anyone on this team right now. I love the cowboys, but I dont have an attachment to any player like I did with, Staubach, Tony Hill, Dorsett, Irvin, Smith, Aikman, Romo, TO, Ware, Woodson, Witten, Dan Bailey, Dez, Quincy (Yeah I said Quincy...he gave me my first Playoff appearance in years) etc...

Jaylon Smith, Tank are possibly on the way, but we will see. I think Zeke is Good, but I dont like him because I think hes an idiot.
