Welcome back Jerry!

When he said "years ago" he obviously meant from 2017 onwards!

Yes. Go Jerry!

Jerry has never tried to create an environment of competition at the QB position. In fact, it's been just the opposite.

Jerry has never proclaimed he will be drafting a QB even when he has in fact drafted a low round QB for backup purposes.

If you acknowledge both of those as true, then you have to question why now, for the first time ever, Jerry is stating that not only will he be looking at QB's in the draft, but he should have been doing it for years.

Why would Jerry be coming out now to state something he has never stated, or done in the past?

It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to read between the lines on this one.
Bingo!........100%

Todd Archer said it best. If it's an early QB, who can provide competition, then that speaks to what they think about Dak long term. If it's a late rd QB, then it's just for backup purposes.

4th rd pick, at best.
After UDFA Romo and 4th round Prescott, I suspect he is looking for the next Brock Purdy

You are correct.. And why would he call out, when they lost, the QB play as the advantage he thought they had over the 49ers immediately, all else being essentially equal... Jerry says whatever is one his mind.
If I'm not mistaken, this is by far the closest thing to admitting a mistake we've ever seen from Jerry.

That one aspect alone speaks volumes about his true feelings.

Damn Jerry making me happy this off-season. Moore gone. Draft a QB. Jerry steps down as GM. That's my happy summer.

WE HAVE TO ACT LIKE WE WANT SOMEONE THAT CAN COME IN AND ACTUALLY HELP WIN GAMES IF DAK ISN'T RIGHT

Hurts is average. He's basically surrounded by a top flight OL and RG, with great coaching. Their OC was the guy who coached Herbert for half a season his first year and CHargers fans were upset they let go and replaced with Lombardi. Hurts is basically like Dak was his first couple years, except his mediocre skills allowed his team to progress farther than our QBs medioce skills did.
Dak with running ability - much better runner than Dak ever was!

He said a QB, it could be a 6th or 7th rounder that they invision backing up Dak and replacing Rush. I wouldn't read much into this vague reporting.

They wanted Hurts

They wanted Howell

I dont think hes thinking just a late round developmental guy
They invested a lot in keeping continuity for Dak. They have essentially let the whole coaching staff walk away and MM is calling plays in an offense that isn't even his. That also says a lot, especially in the context of the statements Jerry has made regarding QB play.

Best news in the last 7 years
There's a great chance, with it being Jerry's off-season, that he's been out on his yacht since Monday. That equates to 48+ hours of sipping his scotch. I'd take this 'drunken' statement with a grain of salt. I'm willing to bet that he's so drunk that he's under the impression that Quincy Carter is still his starting QB.
